Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday emphasised that the entire police department should be upgraded from time to time in the wake of growing cybercrime and narcotic drug menace, the release said.

Participating in the ' Telangana Police Retreat - 2026' programme, the Chief Minister affirmed that the government is ready to address the challenges and issues raised by the police department by constituting a committee headed by the state Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao soon.

According to the Telangana Chief Minister Officer (CMO), the CM described the police as facing two challenges: one is a technical challenge, which can be solved by providing resources, and the second one is an adaptive challenge which needs to be understood in depth to overcome. In the wake of increasing cybercrime.

Good initiative, but words need to translate into action. Our local police station still uses very old systems. Training existing staff is crucial—you can't just recruit a few techies and think the problem is solved. The 'adaptive challenge' he mentioned is real.

Narcotics and cybercrime are destroying our youth. Strict action is needed. Glad he's linking law & order to investments too. No company will set up shop in a state where digital fraud is rampant. Telangana Rising 2047 needs a safe cyber foundation. 👍

As someone who works in IT in Hyderabad, I see these cyber threats daily. The police need real-time collaboration with tech companies and CERT-In. Hope the committee includes industry experts and isn't just government officials.

"Stop working in auto mode" – this is the key point for any government department! Police need to be proactive, not just reactive. The mention of learning from Delhi's pollution and Chennai's floods shows a broader vision. Promising speech, let's see the execution.

My father lost a significant amount in an online scam last year. The police were sympathetic but lacked the technical know-how to track the money. This upgrade can't come soon enough for victims like us. Funding is announced, now please use it effectively.
