Telangana CM directs Hyderabad Metro Rail to expedite work in old city

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed officials to expedite the Metro Rail works in the old city under the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-2 project.
The Chief Minister held a review of the Metro Rail -- old city project with senior officials of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL).
According to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), Revanth Reddy directed the authorities to complete the road widening works along the 7.5-km stretch from MGBS to Chandrayangutta at a fast pace and initiate the tender process for the Metro works on this corridor.
CM Revanth Reddy enquired from the officials about the pending land acquisition and instructed them to finalise the Metro expansion plans immediately.
Noting the steadily increasing ridership on the Hyderabad Metro, the Chief Minister emphasised appropriate measures to handle the passenger load, including adding extra coaches to the trains and directed officials to procure the necessary additional metro rail coaches.
Regarding the 7.5 km corridor from MGBS to Chandrayangutta under Phase-2, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy instructed officials to consult the Delhi Metro for assistance on the appropriate technology to be employed.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister also reviewed the preliminary arrangements for the 'Invest Telangana Global Summit' scheduled to be held in December.
Necessary steps for organisational arrangements for the event and the formulation of a plan to honour prominent persons from various business sectors during the summit were also discussed in the meeting.
CM Revanth Reddy stressed the need to ensure that the summit is organised to international standards, specifically to woo global investments to Telangana.
The officials were ordered to submit a detailed report on the investments attracted and the progress made following the summit held last year.
The Chief Minister instructed the officials to prepare plans to achieve further progress in attracting investments.
State Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Government Advisors Ramakrishna Rao and NVS Reddy, Metro Rail Managing Director Sarfaraz Ahmed, Additional Managing Director Ajit Reddy, and others participated in the meeting.

Good initiative to consult Delhi Metro for technology. Old city roads are narrow, so they need the right kind of metro system that doesn't require too much demolition. The road widening will be a pain for shop owners though. Hope there's proper compensation for those affected.
This is exactly what Hyderabad needs! The ridership keeps increasing every month. Adding extra coaches is a sensible move. I just hope the land acquisition doesn't get stuck in legal battles like it happened for Phase-1. The old city folks deserve better connectivity. 🚇
Good to see the CM personally reviewing these projects. But I hope they focus on last-mile connectivity too. What's the point of a metro station if autos and buses don't connect properly? Also, the Invest Telangana Summit is a separate agenda — hopefully they don't delay metro work because of events.
As someone who frequently travels to Hyderabad for work, this is great news. The metro system in Hyderabad is already one of the best in India. Extending to the old city will ease congestion significantly. Kudos to the government for keeping the momentum going. It'd be nice to see similar progress across other Indian cities too.
I hope they consider the heritage aspects of the old city while doing road widening. Charminar area is iconic and we don't want to lose its character. But yes, metro connectivity is much needed. Also, the "Invest Telangana Summit" is a good move to boost the state's economy. 👏
