T20 WC: Right-left opening combo working in India's favour, says Karthik ahead of crunch WI clash
"the left-hand, right-hand opening combination... worked in the side's favour - Dinesh Karthik"

Chennai, Feb 27

Former India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik believes the left-hand, right-hand opening combination of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson worked in the side’s favour and should be retained for the winner-takes-it-all contest against the West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday.

Former India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has expressed his confidence in the left-hand, right-hand opening combination of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson.

According to Karthik, this pairing has been effective for the team, offering a balanced and strategic advantage at the top of the order. The contrasting styles of a left-hander and a right-hander often disrupt the rhythm of bowlers, making it difficult for them to settle into a consistent line and length. This dynamic has contributed positively to the team's performance, providing a solid foundation in the initial overs.

Karthik emphasized that the duo should be retained for the crucial winner-takes-it-all match against the West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday. He believes that continuity at the top will boost the team's chances of success in such a high-pressure encounter.

The Kolkata pitch, known for its pace and bounce, could suit their combined approach, allowing both batters to play their natural game while putting pressure on the opposition bowlers. Retaining this opening pair could be key to setting a strong platform for the team in what promises to be a tightly contested match.

While I agree with the theory, I'm a bit worried about Samson's consistency in big matches. He's brilliant on his day, but we need a solid start against a strong Windies attack. Fingers crossed!

Eden Gardens will be packed! The atmosphere alone should give our boys a boost. Let's back the team management's decision. Jai Hind!

Watching from the US! The strategy makes perfect sense tactically. Disrupting the bowling plans from ball one is key in T20. Go India!

Respectfully, I have to disagree with Karthik here. We are getting too caught up in the left-right theory. What matters is form and temperament. Would have preferred to see a more experienced pair for such a crunch game. Just my two paise.
