West Indies pulled off a commanding 30-run victory over England in Group C of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday, strengthening their bid for the Super 8s.

Sent in to bat, West Indies recovered from 8/2 to post 196/6, thanks largely to a blistering unbeaten 76 from Sherfane Rutherford, who struck seven sixes and two fours to set up the total. Roston Chase (34) and Jason Holder (33) provided useful support after early setbacks.

In reply, England got starts from Phil Salt and Jacob Bethell but couldn't build big partnerships. West Indies' spin attack dominated, with Gudakesh Motie taking 3-33 and Roston Chase chipping in with two more, strangling the chase and restricting England to 166 all out in 19 overs.

Sam Curran's 43 not out offered resistance, but it wasn't enough as West Indies clinched a second straight win. England now face pressure in their remaining fixtures to keep their tournament hopes alive.

The spin attack won it for WI. Motie and Chase were brilliant. England had no answer on that Wankhede pitch. Shows how important it is to have quality spinners in these conditions.

Phil Salt's stats against WI are insane! 670 runs at an average of 60? But he couldn't convert his start today. That's T20 cricket for you. One good knock from Rutherford overshadowed everything else. Well played, Windies!

As an Indian fan, watching this at Wankhede must have been amazing. The atmosphere there is always electric for a World Cup match. Happy for West Indies, but England's tournament is on the line now. Pressure is on!

Respectful criticism: England's middle order looked clueless against spin. They need to work on their game plan for slow pitches if they want to progress. Sam Curran tried his best, but it was too little too late.

Jason Holder with 200 sixes in T20s! The man is a proper all-rounder. And Rutherford's first fifty against England came at the perfect time. West Indies cricket is so entertaining to watch, yaar. They bring the joy back to the game.
