While the sentiment is good, I hope the government actually follows through on the Rs 150-crore Centre of Excellence in Nadaun. We've seen many announcements before where money is sanctioned but projects drag on for years. The anti-drug campaign mention is also crucial — youth in Himachal desperately need alternative engagement through sports to stay away from substance abuse.

Missing Virbhadra Singh ji's presence at these functions still feels odd, but Sukhu ji is doing well to keep his legacy alive. The Olympic Run with 200 athletes is a good start, but I wish we had more regular sports competitions at the district level. Infrastructure in Bilaspur and Kangra is fine, but what about remote areas like Lahaul-Spiti or Kinnaur? Our youth there also need exposure.

It's heartening to see Himachal investing in sports infrastructure. The International Pro Boxing Championship at The Ridge is a smart way to put Shimla on the global sports map. Coming from the US, I can appreciate how sports can transform communities. I hope the state also focuses on grassroots coaching and not just big stadiums — that's where real talent develops.

As a Shimla resident, I can tell you that the atmosphere at The Ridge during the boxing championship was electric! 🥊 Finally our city is hosting events that go beyond just tourism. The CM's point about sports being a form of education is spot on — many parents here still think it's a waste of time. More such international events will change that mindset for sure.
