Patna, May 23

BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy has underscored the significant contribution of Bihar and its students to the global Artificial Intelligence research landscape, noting that the industry is currently valued at 40 billion dollars worldwide.

Speaking to reporters about the integration of technology in the state's education system, Rudy stated that AI is no longer a distant concept but is being actively utilised in academic institutions.

"The AI industry is valued at 40 billion dollars globally, and there is ongoing AI research worldwide across various sectors. There is a substantial contribution of Bihar and its students in AI research. AI is being used in colleges and universities," the BJP MP said.

Rudy further commended the Bihar government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, for taking proactive steps to institutionalise AI learning through permanent programs.

"The Bihar government, under the leadership of the Chief Minister, has initiated permanent AI educational programs, marking a significant step forward. This will benefit the future generation of Bihar," Rudy added.

The remarks come as the state focuses on modernising its technical education framework to equip students with future-ready skills.

Earlier today, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated a two-day workshop, 'Bihar AI Summit 2026,' at the Energy Auditorium in Patna, asserting the state's resolve to become a frontrunner in the global digital revolution.

"Inaugurated the two-day Bihar AI Summit 2026 workshop at the Energy Auditorium in Patna. Our resolve is to make Bihar a leading state in the digital revolution, powered by youth power, startups, and innovation," Choudhary said in a post on X.

The Chief Minister further detailed how AI-based development is set to transform the core sectors of the state, making governance more efficient and accessible to the common man.

"AI-based development will make education, health, agriculture, and administrative systems more effective and beneficial to the public," he added.

Finally, some good news from Bihar! 🎉 My cousin is studying engineering in Patna and she told me about AI courses being introduced. If we can combine our traditional strengths in agriculture with AI, it could revolutionise farming in the state. The Chief Minister's mention of agriculture is promising. Let's hope this isn't just election rhetoric.

Respectful criticism: While I appreciate the initiative, let's not forget that Bihar still struggles with basic infrastructure—power cuts, internet connectivity, and teacher absenteeism. AI education is great, but we need to fix the fundamentals first. You can't build a digital skyscraper on a mud foundation. Hope the government balances both priorities.

As a teacher from a small town in Bihar, I can say the enthusiasm among students for AI is real. They see it as a ticket out of poverty. But these programs need to reach rural areas too, not just Patna. If the Bihar AI Summit 2026 can create roadmaps for rural tech education, that would be a game-changer. Proud of the step, but the journey is long. 🇮🇳

Good to see Bihar getting recognition for AI research. But let's not ignore the elephant in the room—the state's education system is still recovering from years of neglect. Permanent AI programs are a step, but we need transparency in implementation. Who will teach these courses? Are there trained faculty? These are the real questions. Kaam bolo, dikhao bhi. 😎
