'Shravanotsav 2026 Reel Competition' begins in Gujarat, winners to get cash prizes

Gandhinagar, August 2

The Gujarat Government has announced the 'Shravanotsav 2026 Reel Competition' to promote wider public participation and provide global visibility to Shravanotsav 2026, to be held in Vadnagar, through digital platforms. The competition will be conducted on the MyGov Gujarat portal from August 2 to August 5, 2026.

According to a release from Gujarat CMO, the competition aims to encourage citizens, particularly youth, to creatively showcase Vadnagar's rich cultural heritage, spiritual significance, tourism potential, folk traditions, and the grandeur of Shravanotsav through short video reels.

Participants are required to create and submit an original reel of one to three minutes on the theme "Anant, Anadi Vadnagar" (Eternal, Timeless Vadnagar). Entries must be submitted online in MP4, AVI, or MOV format with a minimum resolution of 720p.

Entries may be submitted in Gujarati, Hindi, or English. If any other regional language is used in the video, subtitles will be mandatory. All submitted reels must be entirely self-shot and original. The use of stock footage, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-generated content, or copyrighted material will not be permitted, the release noted.

Registration and submission of entries will be accepted only through the MyGov Gujarat portal. Each participant may submit only one entry, and submissions received after the deadline will not be considered. The decision of the evaluation committee will be final and binding on all participants.

The competition offers attractive cash prizes. The first prize winner will receive Rs 31,000, the second prize winner Rs 21,000, and the third prize winner Rs 11,000, the release said.

Through this initiative, the Government of Gujarat seeks to connect citizens with the state's rich cultural heritage through creative digital storytelling while enhancing public participation in Shravanotsav 2026. The competition is also intended to encourage youth to actively contribute to preserving and promoting Gujarat's cultural legacy through social media and digital platforms, positioning Shravanotsav as a vibrant people's festival for the digital era.

Nice move! But honestly, the prize money could have been better. Rs 31,000 for first prize? By the time you invest in good equipment, travel to Vadnagar, and edit properly, you're barely breaking even. Still, it's a good way to get exposure and maybe build a portfolio for aspiring creators. Keen to participate anyway! 🙌

The rule about no AI-generated content and no stock footage is actually quite thoughtful. It ensures the reels are authentic and creative, not just recycled content from the internet. I appreciate that they're pushing for originality. Also, only 4 days to submit is a bit tight, but creative people will manage! 🎬

Brilliant way to blend tradition with modern digital trends. Living abroad, I'm so happy to see initiatives that showcase Indian culture to the world through social media. When is this Shravanotsav anyway? Might plan a trip back to India for it if it's anything like this reel competition suggests! 🇮🇳✨

I just registered on the MyGov Gujarat portal. The process is quite simple. Seems like a well-planned campaign to make Shravanotsav 2026 go viral organically. However, I wish the submission window was longer than 4 days — it's difficult for working professionals to shoot quality content in such a short span of time. Just my two paise. 😅

Love the theme "Anant, Anadi Vadnagar" — it captures the eternal essence of the place beautifully. The condition about subtitles for regional languages is also a smart move
