Former diplomat Anil Trigunayat said that the India-US relationship, despite some statements here and there, remains very robust.

Trigunayat, in a conversation with ANI, said that the visit essentially repairs the India relationship and revives the Quad prospects to a great extent.

He said, "The India-US relationship, despite some statements here and there remains very robust and it's a global comprehensive strategic partnership where India is a strong strategic pivot and the relationship continues to strengthen, in which the Quad has acquired a much greater significance...The four member countries whose foreign ministers are going to be present here, including Secretary Rubio...The visit essentially repairs the India relationship and revives the Quad prospects to a great extent...India is the host this year of the summit, and we hope that the summit will take place in due course of time as per schedule."

Meanwhile, US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, said that the new Support Annex Building reflects their commitment to serving the American and Indian people more effectively.

"I was honoured to join US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the dedication ceremony for our new Support Annex Building, which will house our management and consular sections in New Delhi. This modern facility reflects our commitment to serving the American and Indian people more effectively, while supporting the enduring strength of the U.S.-India partnership."

Gor also celebrated 250 years of American independence in the presence of Rubio.

"Celebrating 250 years of American independence and excellence! Delighted to host US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at Roosevelt House this evening for a wonderful gathering with our friends and partners from the Indian government and business community, including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Union Minister of Commerce Piyush Goyal, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Taranjit Singh Sandhu."

Interesting perspective from the former diplomat. While Quad revival is crucial, I recall past tensions over trade tariffs and the CAATSA issue. Rubio's visit seems more about damage control than repair, especially after the recent diplomatic spats. But the building dedication ceremony signals long-term commitment. Still, actions speak louder than words—let's see tangible outcomes on critical technology sharing and joint exercises. 🤔

I'm cautiously optimistic. The Quad is vital for countering China's aggressive posturing, but we need more than photo ops and building inaugurations. India should push for concrete collaboration on semiconductors, space, and climate tech. And yes, the diaspora in the US will benefit from smoother consular services. But let's not ignore the elephant in the room: the H-1B visa issues and deportation rhetoric remain unresolved. 🤷‍♀️

As someone tracking defense deals, this visit is reassuring. The India-US relationship has weathered many storms—from the nuclear deal to the pandemic. But I am concerned that the Quad might become too focused on military posturing rather than economic resilience. We need a balanced approach that includes ASEAN and the Global South. Also, the new building in Delhi is nice, but where's the infrastructure for green energy cooperation? 😅

Arre, finally some positive news! I was worried after the comments about democracy and human rights. So glad to see Jaishankar and Rubio meeting. The Quad revival is crucial because we need a counterbalance to the Belt and Road Initiative. But I wish the article mentioned more about people-to-people ties, especially student exchanges. The new support annex sounds good, but what about faster visa processing for Indian professionals? That's the real repair needed! 💪
