RSS annual All India Prant Pracharak meeting begins in Karnataka; discussions focus on shakha expansion, centenary plans

The annual All India Prant Pracharak meeting of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh began in Belagavi, Karnataka, on Friday with senior functionaries attending discussions on organisational activities, shakha expansion and programmes linked to the Sangh's centenary year.
According to an RSS statement, the meeting is being attended by Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale, all Sah-Sarkaryavahs, all India Department Heads, their deputies, Executive Committee members, Kshetra Pracharaks, Sah-Kshetra Pracharaks, as well as Prant Pracharaks and Sah-Pracharaks from all 46 provinces.
The meeting also includes the participation of All India Organisation Ministers of various organisations inspired by the Sangh.

The RSS said detailed discussions will be held on the reports of training camps conducted at different levels of the organisation after March 2026 and on the implementation of action plans at the shakha level.
The meeting will also review the shakha expansion activities carried out as part of the Sangh Centenary celebrations and discuss plans for further expansion.
According to the statement, discussions will also cover a review of programmes completed during the centenary year, planning for the remaining scheduled programmes, and the travel plans of the Sarsanghchalak for 2026-27.

The organisation added that the remaining programmes of the Sangh Centenary Year (2025-26) will continue until Vijayadashami on October 20, 2026.

Interesting timing for this meeting. Belagavi is a sensitive border area between Karnataka and Maharashtra, but they've chosen it deliberately I think. The RSS's ground-level work is impressive, but I wish they'd focus more on education and less on ideological expansion, especially in mixed communities.
As someone studying Indian civil society, the RSS's centenary planning is remarkable. Their organisational discipline is unmatched. But their effectiveness depends on whether they can adapt to modern India's diversity. The shakha model works for discipline, but does it foster genuine pluralism?
In my village, the local RSS shakha does morning drills and helps during floods. But I also see some youth moving away from such activities due to job pressures. The centenary planning needs to address the urban youth disconnect. Also, why no mention of women's participation in these meetings?
The RSS is often misunderstood. My grandfather was a swayamsevak in the 1940s, and he taught me discipline and service. The centenary is a big milestone, but I hope they don't become too political. Stick to character building and social work, that's where the real impact is. 🇮🇳
I observe from abroad and the RSS's growth is undeniable. But their top-down structure worries me when it comes to free speech. A healthy democracy needs multiple voices, not just one organisation's worldview. Let's see if their centenary includes outreach to non-Hindu communities meaningfully.
