Robert Pattinson turns to his movies to impress his 22-month-old daughter
"If I'm not getting any respect, I'll be like, 'Who's this? Who's that on the screen?' - Robert Pattinson"

Los Angeles, Jan 24

Hollywood star Robert Pattinson has quipped that he shows his 22-month-old daughter his films when he's "not getting any respect" from her.

In an interview with GQ, the actor, who shares his daughter with his partner Suki Waterhouse, said: "Oh, she has seen so many of them already. If I'm not getting any respect, I'll be like, 'Who's this? Who's that on the screen?' And she's like... (Blank stare). And I'm like, 'It begins with a D! Ends with a Y!'"

Pattinson revealed that he wasn't the "biggest fan of kids" before becoming a father but stressed that his opinion has transformed completely since.

Asked how parenthood had changed him, the 39-year-old actor said: "I don't know how. I wasn't the biggest fan of kids before."

"I didn't mind them. I would tolerate them. But it's the most fun thing. I think it's absolutely wonderful. And you're suddenly like... well, everyone does seem to think their kid is the coolest kid. I definitely think, I'm like. Yeah, my kid, you can actually hang with her. She's great."

The Batman star added: "But how has it changed me? I go to bed a lot earlier. There's just constant time management. It's just that everything is time management, the whole time.

"I mean, it's kind of obvious, but you don't realise it until you do it. Even if you're on the other side of the planet, you're like, 'Okay, I cannot spend more than 10 days away.' After 10 days of being away, it's physical pain. It's so interesting, your body chemistry changes without you even thinking about it."

The actor is starring in Dune: Part Three, which is slated for release later this year, and found it a unique experience getting to work on the concluding part of Denis Villeneuve's epic sci-fi trilogy, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

He said: "You'll never experience these things in any other profession. I mean, literally, I was experiencing things which hardly anybody in history has or will ever experience and it's just absolutely incredible.

"Being out in the desert shooting Dune, it's weird. I remember shooting a scene with Zendaya, the first scene we shot together out in the desert, I'm like, 'Oh! We're, like, in Dune!' And she's like, 'Yeah...we're doing a Dune movie.' But it really was like, 'It really feels like you're in a Dune movie.' It was really, really fun."

His comment about time management and not spending more than 10 days away hits home. So many parents in India, especially those working abroad or in different cities, feel that physical pain of separation. It's a universal parent thing.

"It begins with a D! Ends with a Y!" Haha, trying to get his toddler to say "Daddy" from his Batman scenes is a whole mood. Desi parents would be like "Beta, look, it's your Papa on TV!" 😄

It's refreshing to hear a celebrity be so honest about not being a "kid person" before. Parenthood changes you in ways you can't imagine. Glad he's enjoying the journey. Also, very excited for Dune: Part Three!

While it's a cute story, I find it a bit... much? Showing your movies to a toddler for "respect"? Maybe just play with her instead. The pressure to be "cool" for your kids starts so early, even in Hollywood.

His transformation is what many uncles in my family need to see! So many are scared of holding babies until they have their own. Then they become the biggest softies. Heartwarming story. 👶
