I've admired Rekha ji since I was a child. Her dialogue delivery in Umrao Jaan is unmatched. It's wonderful that the festival is showcasing our rich cinematic heritage on a global stage. Proud moment for India 🇮🇳
While I respect Rekha ji's legacy, I wish the festival also highlighted some newer talents and pressing social themes through cinema. But yes, her hoisting the flag is a great symbolic gesture of cultural pride.
From an Australian perspective, this is a fascinating cultural bridge. Rekha ji's presence and the flag-hoisting ceremony will undoubtedly resonate with the large Indian diaspora here. Looking forward to seeing the festival's program!
"Umrao Jaan has never left me" – that line gave me goosebumps. 😭 This is what true artistry is. She is not just an actress; she is an emotion. I'm so happy that her work is being honored internationally. Jai Hind!
I agree she is a timeless star, but wouldn't it be more impactful to involve newer-generation artists who can connect with today's global audience? Still, it's a significant cultural event that deserves applause.
