"I am really happy to take part in Norway Chess again, fighting against a very strong field as always, and looking forward to all the exciting games," said Gukesh.

His rapid rise includes several historic milestones, among them becoming the youngest player ever to cross the 2750 rating mark and earning the Grandmaster title at the age of 12, the third-youngest in chess history. He has also been a key part of India's recent success on the international stage. At the Chess Olympiad,

He won individual gold on board one in 2022, followed by both team gold and individual gold on board one in 2024.

Norway Chess has already featured defining moments in Gukesh D's career. As a chess fan from the US, it's incredible to watch Gukesh's journey. The table-slam moment against Carlsen is legendary. 2026 is going to be a fantastic tournament with him as the defending world champion.

Absolutely brilliant. But a small note - I wish the article had mentioned Praggnanandhaa and Vidit as well. Our strength is in the team, not just one player. That said, all the best to Gukesh! Make us proud.

His rise is meteoric. Becoming a GM at 12 and world champion at 18... it's almost unreal. The pressure on him in 2026 will be immense, but if anyone can handle it, it's him. Best of luck!
