RCA Elections Delayed Again as Ad-Hoc Panel Gets 10th Extension

The Rajasthan Cricket Association has received its tenth consecutive extension for the ad-hoc committee, now directed to hold elections within three months. The extension was granted by Registrar Dr. Samit Sharma to prevent a legal vacuum in the state cricket body's operations. Elections have been repeatedly delayed due to ongoing investigations into the previous administration's finances and unresolved disputes among district associations. The committee, composed of members from prominent political families, has been in charge for over two years since the previous executive was removed.

RCA ad-hoc panel gets 10th extension, elections delayed yet again

Jaipur, June 27

The Rajasthan Cricket Association will continue to function under an ad-hoc committee after the state government extended its tenure by another three months, marking the tenth consecutive extension since the panel was first appointed in March 2024.

The extension was approved by Registrar of Cooperative Societies Dr. Samit Sharma, who said the decision was taken to avoid a "legal vacuum" in the functioning of the state's cricket body. The committee has now been directed to complete the election process within the next three months.

The ad-hoc committee, originally constituted for only three months after the previous RCA executive was removed in March 2024, has remained in charge for more than two years as elections continue to be deferred.

According to a letter submitted by the committee to the government on June 24, elections could not be conducted because investigations into the financial and administrative functioning of the previous RCA executive are still underway.

The committee also cited unresolved disputes involving several district cricket associations, stating that these issues must be settled before free and fair elections can be held in accordance with RCA bylaws.

The panel further informed the government that the ongoing domestic cricket season, coupled with other unavoidable administrative circumstances, also contributed to the delay in conducting elections.

The government has retained the existing committee, with Mohit Yadav continuing as convener. Other members include Dhananjay Singh, Ashish Tiwari, Sushil Jain, Arisht Singhvi, and Arjun Beniwal. The composition of the committee has often drawn political attention, with several members belonging to prominent political families.

Mohit Yadav is the son of BJP MLA Jaswant Yadav, Dhananjay Singh is the son of Health Minister Gajendra Singh, Ashish Tiwari is the son of BJP MP Ghanshyam Tiwari, Arisht Singhvi is the grandson of former minister Chandra Raj Singhvi, while Arjun Beniwal is the son of Bhadra MLA Sanjeev Beniwal.

With the latest extension, the spotlight is once again on whether the long-pending RCA elections will finally be held by September 2026, as directed by the government, or whether Rajasthan cricket will continue under interim administration.

Honestly, this is getting ridiculous. Ten extensions in over two years means they're not serious about elections. The registrar's office keeps citing "legal vacuum" but it's just an excuse to keep their favorites in power. Where's the accountability for RCA's finances from the last regime?

Kheloge kya, ya nahi? 🤔 Har baar wohi baatein – domestic season, disputes, investigation...kabhi khatam nahi hote. Agar aise chalta raha toh humara cricket kya Rajasthan mein bhi khatam ho jayega? At least do proper elections and let the state cricket move forward.

A classic example of "adda" in Indian sports administration. The committee is almost entirely sons of politicians – it's a family business at this point. How can they claim to be impartial? The BCCI should step in and force elections, because RCA is clearly not going to do it on its own.

I agree that investigations need to be completed, but two years for a probe? That's too slow. They should either finish it quickly or set a fixed election date and let the members decide. It's not fair to keep everyone in limbo. #JusticeForRajasthanCricket
