Ranjeet recalls Bindu pulling his ears years ago, says he has treasured a picture of the same
Mumbai, June 30
Veteran Bollywood star and popular villain of the 70-80s era of Bollywood, Ranjeet took a trip down memory lane after actress Bindu described him as an 'innocent' and 'jovial' person in a recent interview.
The actor, reacting to her interview , recalled a playful incident from years ago when she had pulled his ears.
Reacting to Bindu's comments in a video message, Ranjeet thanked the actress for her praise and said it brought back fond memories from their years of working together.
"Ms. Bindu, how did you know that I was innocent? Thank you so much for praising me. It felt wonderful and brought back so many old memories," he said.
He further added with a laugh, "I also remembered that I have a photograph in which you're pulling my ears. If I was so innocent, then why were you pulling my ears? I still don't understand. Please call me and tell me."
For the uninitiated, the two veterans have been a part of the Hindi film industry for more than five decades now. They have shared screen space in many Hindi films over the decades, appearing together in movies such as 'Naseeb', 'Laawaris', 'Prem Rog', and other popular entertainers of the 1970s and 1980s.
Ranjeet, whose real name is Gopal Bedi, became one of Bollywood's most iconic villains during the 1970s and 1980s.
He was known for portraying ruthless antagonists, smugglers, landlords and morally corrupt characters - the one who would even tease, molest the heroine on-screen and give a tough fight to the hero.
He went on to feature in hundreds of films and earned a reputation as one of Hindi cinema's most recognisable on-screen villains.
Despite his intimidating screen image, colleagues have often described him as soft-spoken, witty and affectionate in real life.
Talking about Bindu, the actress remains one of Hindi cinema's most celebrated actresses, remembered for her memorable performances in films such as 'Kati Patang', 'Amar Prem', 'Abhimaan', 'Do Raaste', 'Abhimaan' 'Main Hoon Na' and others.

Ranjeet sir ka woh ear-pulling photo! Bindu ji ne bhi humesha off-screen itna mast mizaaj raha hai. Yeh purani yaadein dekh kar lagta hai ki 70s-80s ka cinema kitna organic tha, aaj ke over-the-top promotions se alag ek charm tha. 🎬🌟
This is such a wholesome throwback! Even though I didn't grow up watching these films, the camaraderie between Ranjeet and Bindu feels genuine. Love how even villains were real gentlemen off-screen. Bollywood used to have class. 👏
Ek taraf Ranjeet sir ne screen pe hero ko haraya, doosri taraf Bindu ji ne real life mein unke kaan kheech liye - that's poetic justice! 🤣 Also, imagine aaj ke actors apne purane costars ke saath itni warmth se yaadein share karein - nahi hota. Pure gold.
Ranjeet sir ka 'innocent' hona aur Bindu ka kaan kheechne wala photo - yeh toh classic 'Chandramukhi-Chalu' type banter hai! Unke films like Naseeb, Prem Rog - each had such distinct characters. Wish media would cover more such warm stories instead of gossip. 🙏
This is adorable! The way Ranjeet playfully asks "why were you pulling my ears?" shows his childlike innocence. Bindu's compliment about him being 'innocent'
