Rajnath Singh approved four defence corridors in Pune, Nashik, Ahmednagar and Nagpur: Maharashtra CM Fadnavis
Shirdi, May 23
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved all four defence cooridors proposed by him in Pune, Nashik, Ahmednagar and Nagpur.
Addressing at the inauguration of NIBE Group's defence manufacturing facility in Shirdi, CM Fadnavis said, "I had requested 4 defence corridors in Pune, Nashik, Ahmednagar, and Nagpur. I am happy to say that my request was immediately approved by Raksha Mantri Rajnath ji. Soon all these defence corridors will be fully functional. This plant bags over 5,000 crore rupees investment, and it will have employment generation capacity for 4,000 people"
He further said that NIBE Defence facility in Shirdi is equipped with "state-of-the-art" technologies.
"The shells and artillery which will be produced here will be used on all our borders wherever they are needed. This facility at Shirdi is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. We cannot reveal all the technologies here, but I can tell you we have all the abilities which we need in the coming time for our enemies. We are sure that this facility will make our country more secure, and it will boost our export power with immense capacity," said Fadnavis.
Reflecting on the success of Operation Sindoor, CM Fadnavis said, "We need a lot of seaplanes, and it's a very popular kind of technology, and this will be manufactured here. We saw during Operation Sindhu also how our indigenous technologies brought Pakistan to its knees. I am not taking names of the countries whose technology was being used by Pakistan, and we destroyed each of them without even landing on India's land. This is the level of perfection and precision of our technology in the defence sector."
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the NIBE Group's defence manufacturing facility in Shirdi.
Addressing the gathering, Rajnath Singh said that this is the land of Shivaji, and inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, India is building a "fortress of self-reliance" in the defence sector here.
"After seeing this facility, I can say with certainty that no power in the world can stop India from becoming the world's largest exporter in the defence sector in next 25-30 years. Today, a golden chapter is being written in India's defence and space sectors," he said.

I appreciate the move, but I'm cautiously optimistic. We've seen many such announcements before - let's wait and watch how quickly these corridors actually become operational. The real test will be in execution and whether local MSMEs actually benefit from these projects.
Operation Sindoor success was a wake-up call for the world. When our own technology can bring Pakistan to its knees without even crossing the border, it shows how far we've come. Rajnath ji and Fadnavis ji are doing exactly what's needed - building a fortress of self-reliance just like Shivaji Maharaj did! 🚀
As someone working in the defence sector, I can tell you this is genuinely exciting. The technologies mentioned - from artillery shells to seaplanes - are game-changing. But we also need to focus on R&D and skill development. Mere manufacturing without indigenous innovation won't take us to the top exporter position they're talking about.
Shirdi getting such a facility is brilliant! The spiritual heart of Maharashtra now becoming a defence hub too. But I hope the employment isn't just contractual - our youth need permanent, well-paying jobs. Also, the environmental impact of these facilities in a pilgrimage town needs to be managed properly.
Love the ambition of becoming the world's largest defence exporter in 25-30 years. But let's be realistic - we're competing with the US, Russia, Israel, and China. The quality and cost-effectiveness need to be world-class. Still, a great first step! 🇮🇳
