Rajasthan tops India in expressway construction with 1,192 km corridors

Rajasthan has emerged as the leading state in the country in the construction of high‑speed corridors and greenfield expressways, with 1,192 kilometres of expressways completed so far, according to information shared by the Central Government in the Rajya Sabha.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, in a written reply, said Rajasthan has recorded the highest length of completed high‑speed corridors and greenfield expressways among all states.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma welcomed the achievement and expressed gratitude to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for the Centre's support in strengthening Rajasthan's road infrastructure.
According to Gadkari, the Central Government has approved 10,389 kilometres of high‑speed corridors and greenfield expressways across the country. Of these, 4,809 kilometres have been completed so far. With 1,192 kilometres completed within the state, Rajasthan accounts for nearly 25 per cent of all high‑speed corridors and greenfield expressways constructed in India to date, making it the top‑performing state in this category.
The expansion of the expressway network has significantly improved connectivity across Rajasthan, reducing travel time between major cities and strengthening links to industrial hubs, border regions, and neighbouring states.
The improved road infrastructure is expected to enhance the movement of people and goods while supporting economic activity across the state.
According to the Central Government, the development of high‑speed corridors and greenfield expressways is expected to play a key role in accelerating economic growth, trade, tourism, and industrial development in Rajasthan by improving logistics efficiency and regional connectivity.
