Rajasthan: Khajuwala drone weapon smuggling case cracked through technical surveillance; Pakistan link suspected

Rajasthan police crack Khajuwala drone weapon smuggling case through technical surveillance; IG Omprakash Paswan confirms Pakistan link in February 2026 incident.

"This definitely has connections with Pakistan. - IG Omprakash Paswan"

Bikaner, May 13

IG Bikaner Range Omprakash Paswan said that the investigation into the alleged weapon smuggling through drones at the Khajuwala border initially appeared to be a "blind case" but was later cracked through technical surveillance and sustained investigation.

Speaking on the matter, IG Paswan said on Tuesday that the incident occured in February 2026 when a drone dropped at the Himgiri BSF outpost and added that the investigation progressed after police took a prisoner identified as Sukhwinder alias Sonu on a production warrant.

"This is an incident from February 2026, which happened in Khajuwala, at the Himgiri BSF outpost, where a drone dropping occurred. Initially, it was sort of a blind case. It was worked out through thorough investigation and technical surveillance. Taking a prisoner, Sukhwinder alias Sonu, on a production warrant, the chain was developed," Paswan told reporters.

According to the IG, the accused had been lodged in jail since 2023 in connection with a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

"He has been imprisoned since 2023 under the NDPS Act," Paswan said.

The police officer further stated that the case appeared to have links with Pakistan. "This definitely has connections with Pakistan," he added.

Further details are awaited.

I read about this, they got the guy from a 2023 drug case? So he was already in jail? That is wild - imagine running an international smuggling operation from prison. Tech surveillance is the way forward.

🙏 Thank you BSF and Rajasthan Police! The Khajuwala area has been vulnerable for years. But I'm worried - if one drone got through, how many didn't get caught? We need better jammers and detection systems on the border.

Classic 'blind case' they say... but what about the fact that this prisoner was already in jail since 2023? How was he coordinating this? This raises serious questions about prison security and illegal phone usage inside jails. That's where the real problem lies.

Paswan sahab has done good work in Rajasthan. The Pakistan link is obvious - why do they keep trying to destabilize us? First drugs, now weapons through drones. We need a strong response at the diplomatic level too. Enough is enough!

Technical surveillance cracking this is impressive. I work in cybersecurity in Bangalore and this shows how data intelligence can solve physical crimes too. The question is - are other border areas equally covered? Or is this just luck?
