Rajasthan Chief Secy reviews fuel, LPG supply situation; says adequate stocks available
Jaipur, May 20
Rajasthan Chief Secretary V. Srinivas on Wednesday chaired a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat to assess the supply and distribution of petrol, diesel and LPG across the state.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary assured that sufficient stocks of petrol, diesel and LPG were available throughout Rajasthan and emphasised that there was no need for the public to engage in panic buying.
He stated that the situation remained completely under control and that regular fuel supplies were continuing uninterrupted through the country's major pipeline network system connected to Rajasthan.
He further informed that the Central government had assured the state administration that no disruption in fuel and LPG supply would be allowed in the future.
To ensure transparency and effective monitoring, the Chief Secretary directed oil and gas companies operating in the state to release daily district-wise data regarding the availability and distribution of petrol, diesel and LPG.
He said that stock positions and supply mechanisms at the district level would be reviewed on a daily basis to prevent rumours and avoid any artificial shortage-like situation.
The Chief Secretary also instructed authorities to maintain strict vigilance over the bulk open sale of petrol and diesel in drums.
He stressed that monitoring systems would be strengthened further to curb illegal fuel sales and prevent leakages in the supply chain. The administration, he said, was continuously monitoring the situation closely.
Appealing to the public, he urged citizens not to pay attention to rumours or resort to unnecessary hoarding, as such actions could create avoidable pressure on the supply network despite adequate fuel availability.
Ambrish Kumar, Secretary of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, said that continuous monitoring was being carried out at the departmental level to prevent any illegal sale or black marketing of petrol, diesel and LPG in the state.
Senior officials from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), along with representatives of private fuel suppliers, the Petrol Pump Dealers Association and officials from the Food and Civil Supplies Department, attended the meeting.

I appreciate the transparency with daily district-wise data release. That will help common people like us verify if there's really a shortage or just rumors. But the Chief Secretary should also address why LPG cylinder prices keep fluctuating so much in Rajasthan. That affects our kitchen budget directly!
Finally some sensible news! Last week there were WhatsApp messages saying petrol pumps will run dry for a week. People were lining up at 6 AM. We need better public communication, not just reviews behind closed doors. The daily data sharing is a good step but should start right away, not after months.
As a small business owner in Jodhpur who runs a fleet of delivery vehicles, I can tell you the panic buying is real. One day we had to wait 2 hours at a pump because people were filling extra cans. The strict vigilance on bulk open sale in drums is necessary. But also need to ensure small businesses don't suffer due to sudden restrictions. Balance is key.
Good move by the Chief Secretary. But I've been hearing such assurances for years during every crisis. What about the rural areas in Rajasthan where LPG cylinder delivery still takes 15-20 days? We need ground-level monitoring, not just meetings in Jaipur. Also, oil companies should be penalized if district-level shortages occur despite adequate stocks.
I'm relieved to hear this. My mother was worried about LPG shortage after seeing panic posts on social media. The Chief Secretary's appeal to not spread rumors is important. But the government should also proactively counter misinformation with official updates on Twitter and WhatsApp. Just a news article won't reach all villagers in Rajasthan
