Rajasthan braces for more showers as Met Dept warns of heavy rainfall across several divisions

Monsoon activity is expected to remain active across several parts of Rajasthan on Thursday, with the Meteorological Centre, Jaipur, forecasting moderate to heavy rainfall at isolated places in parts of the state.
According to the weather forecast, parts of the Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Kota, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions may receive moderate to heavy rainfall today. Sudden changes in local weather conditions and intense spells of rain are also possible in some areas.
A weather warning has been issued for Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Nagaur, Pali and Phalodi and adjoining areas.
Thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds of around 30-40 kmph, along with light to moderate rainfall, are likely at isolated places.
Several districts, including Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Jaipur, Karauli, Dholpur, Baran, Kota, Dausa and Jhalawar, have already reported waterlogging following recent spells of heavy rain. Residents in low-lying areas have been advised to remain alert.
The Meteorological Department has indicated a gradual decline in rainfall activity across most parts of Jodhpur, Udaipur and Ajmer divisions from August 14. However, isolated moderate to heavy rainfall may continue over parts of the Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur and Kota divisions.
From August 15, rainfall activity is expected to decrease across most parts of the state, except for some areas of western and northern Rajasthan.
On August 16, isolated rainfall may continue over parts of the Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota and Bikaner divisions.
Residents are advised to take precautions during thunderstorms and lightning. People should avoid open fields, isolated trees and areas near electric poles during severe weather.
Drivers should exercise caution because sudden heavy rainfall can reduce visibility and cause waterlogging on roads. Authorities and residents are advised to monitor the latest local weather alerts as conditions may change rapidly.

Living in Jaipur, I can confirm that the last few days have been intense. Our colony roads are completely waterlogged. The warning about low-lying areas is important — hope everyone stays safe. Also, why does the drainage system fail every single year? 🤔
Monsoon is a blessing for farmers in Rajasthan, no doubt. But the sudden intense spells are dangerous. I hope the administration in Bhilwara and Chittorgarh is well-prepared for emergencies, especially in rural areas where connectivity is limited.
The weather forecast has actually been quite accurate this time. We got alerts on our phones before the heavy showers hit Udaipur yesterday. Good to see the Met Department improving their technology. But also praying for everyone in the affected districts! 🌧️
This is exactly why we need better urban planning in our cities. Waterlogging in modern Jaipur should not be a yearly affair. While the warnings are helpful, the root cause needs to be addressed — proper drainage, waste management, and sustainable infrastructure.
