Rahane to make Test commentary debut during India tour of SL

Ajinkya Rahane is set to trade the crease for the commentary box as the former India captain embarks on the next chapter of his cricketing career during the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka.
He will make his Test commentary debut when India's tour of Sri Lanka gets underway on August 15.
The move comes shortly after Rahane ended a first-class career that spanned nearly 18 years. Having spent much of that time operating in the demanding environment of Test cricket, the 37-year-old will now offer his perspective from the other side of the boundary, analysing the tactical decisions and defining moments that shape a five-day contest.
Rahane leaves behind an impressive Test record. Across 85 matches for India, he scored 5,077 runs, with 12 centuries and 26 half-centuries. His experience of playing in varied conditions and handling pressure at the highest level is expected to bring an insider's perspective to the broadcast.
Rahane said the transition will give him an opportunity to view the format from an entirely different vantage point.

Finally some good news! Rahane was always underrated despite his match-winning knocks. His 112 at Lord's in 2014 and that epic 97 at MCG in 2020-21 will always be remembered. Happy to see him getting this opportunity. Hope he brings the same grace to commentary as he did to batting.
Great move by Sony to bring in someone with actual Test match experience. Unlike some former players who just repeat the obvious, Rahane was known for his sharp cricket brain. His understanding of building innings and field placements should add real value. Good luck to him!
Maybe he can explain why India dropped him so abruptly after the WTC final and what really happens in the dressing room. But jokes aside, this is a well-deserved transition. His experience of 85 Tests is invaluable. All the best, Jinks! 👍
One thing about Rahane - he always carried himself with class, whether he was captain, vice-captain or just a fielder. It's heartening to see him step into the commentary box with the same poise. His commentary will definitely be a treat for cricket lovers in India. ❤️
I just hope he isn't as monotonous as his batting style was at times! But in all seriousness, Rahane's calm approach to pressure situations is exactly what modern commentary lacks. Too many ex-cricketers shout these days. His measured analysis will be refreshing.
