Puri Jagannath Temple witnesses devotee rush for Parivartini Ekadashi rituals

A large number of devotees gathered at the historic Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri on Tuesday to offer prayers and take part in rituals marking Parshva Parivartana Bada Ekadashi, an auspicious day in the Hindu calendar.
The temple premises witnessed vibrant scenes as pilgrims and locals chanted hymns, offered obeisance near the iconic Singhadwara, or Lion's Gate, and participated in the spiritual observances of the day.
Also known as Parivartini Ekadashi, Vamana Ekadashi, Padma Ekadashi and Jaljhani Ekadashi, Parshva Parivartana Bada Ekadashi falls on the eleventh day of the bright fortnight, or Shukla Paksha, in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada, which corresponds to August-September.
The sacred occasion holds significance in the Hindu calendar and symbolises the turning point of Lord Vishnu during his cosmic slumber.
Temple authorities and the local administration managed the steady influx of visitors to facilitate the movement and safety of devotees attending the day's special ceremonies.
The Shree Jagannatha Temple, a renowned 12th-century Hindu temple in Puri, Odisha, is dedicated to Lord Jagannath, a form of Lord Vishnu, along with his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra.
It is among Hinduism's holiest Char Dham pilgrimage sites and is known for its classical Kalinga architecture.
