Punjab: BJP reviews arrangements ahead of PM Modi's Jalandhar visit

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jalandhar on July 17, Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab President Kewal Singh Dhillon on Wednesday reviewed arrangements for the event.
Dhillon visited the redeveloped Jalandhar Cantonment Railway Station and the rally venue. He also held discussions with officials from the police, civil administration and Indian Railways regarding preparations.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhillon said PM Modi is visiting Punjab to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several major development projects. He said the entire BJP Punjab unit and the people of the state are enthusiastically preparing to give the Prime Minister a grand welcome.
Dhillon said that whenever PM Modi visits Punjab, he brings a major development gift for the state, and this visit will be no different, with development projects worth crores set to be dedicated in Punjab.
Dhillon said during the visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the redeveloped railway stations at Jalandhar Cantonment, Mohali, Muktsar Sahib and Anandpur Sahib. These stations have been upgraded into world-class facilities equipped with modern waiting lounges, free Wi-Fi, upgraded platforms, food courts, escalators, and several other passenger-friendly amenities for senior citizens, children, and differently-abled passengers.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister will also flag off the Sant Ravidas Ji Express from Jalandhar.
He said that besides the railway station redevelopment projects, several other major initiatives aimed at accelerating Punjab's development will also be launched. New national highway projects will be inaugurated to strengthen the state's infrastructure. New projects in the PGIMER in Chandigarh will also be launched to expand healthcare facilities.
In addition, a new multipurpose auditorium for students at Panjab University in Chandigarh will be inaugurated.
Dhillon said that PM Modi's singular vision is to make India the world's leading nation, with Punjab playing a vital role in that journey.
He said the modernisation of old railway stations across the state reflects this vision by transforming them into world-class transport hubs.
Dhillon said the development taking place in Punjab today is being driven by the Central government's initiatives.
He expressed confidence that the people of Punjab would support the BJP's development agenda in the 2027 Assembly elections and that the BJP would form the next government in the state.

Finally some attention to Punjab's infrastructure! As someone who travels from Jalandhar to Chandigarh regularly, those railway upgrades are much needed. Hope the Wi-Fi actually works this time 😅
As an NRIs who visits Punjab every year, I can see the improvements. The old stations were really outdated, so these upgrades are welcome. But let's see if the government maintains them properly. 😊
I'm skeptical about the 2027 claim. Punjab has been with Congress for long and farmers are still angry. PM Modi's development talk is good but ground reality of farm laws still hurts. Need to address that first.
The Sant Ravidas Ji Express flag-off is a nice touch. Good to see respect for our saints. But these announcements happen every time, we need implementation and results. Hope this time it's different. 🙏
