"The development of the nation is possible only through the development of every section of society. - President Droupadi Murmu"

Bhubaneswar, April 21

President Droupadi Murmu said on Tuesday that the development of the nation is possible only through the development of every section of society, advising the people to actively participate in the nation's development journey.

The President was speaking at a public event held at Rourkela in Sundargarh district during her day-long Odisha visit earlier in the day.

She also inaugurated Planetarium and Science Centre, and Nirmal Munda Parivesh Path at a public event.

Later, President Murmu also inaugurated the Tribal Museum and Integrated Command and Control Centre at Rourkela.

Addressing the gathering at the public event, President Murmu said that natural beauty, folk culture and heritage of Sundargarh district in Odisha possess an attractive charm.

"The allure of its dense forests, mountains, waterfalls and rivers is boundless. The art and culture of Sundargarh have further enriched the cultural abundance of Odisha."

She also emphasised that Sundargarh district is also the land of brave individuals and sports enthusiasts.

The President said that people from various regions of India, including Odisha, reside in Rourkela for employment and livelihood purposes.

She said this cosmopolitan city has played a pioneering role in promoting Odisha's art, literature, culture, tribal traditions, and sports.

"The development of the nation is possible only through the development of every section of society. With this in mindset, the Central and state governments are actively working on various schemes for tribal welfare. This is accelerating the development process in tribal-dominated districts like Sundargarh, while prioritising the economic upliftment of the members of tribal communities," President Murmu added.

The President advised the people to actively participate in the development of the nation.

She advised them to move ahead and also extend a helping hand to assist others in moving forward.

She urged the people to become good human beings and strive to uplift those who have been left behind.

The President said that our nation is rapidly marching towards becoming 'Viksit Bharat' by the centenary year of our independence in 2047.

Similarly, the year 2036 will mark the completion of one hundred years since the formation of the state of Odisha.

To build a 'Viksit Odisha' and 'Viksit Bharat', all-round development and the participation of people from every section of society are essential.

The creation of 'Viksit Bharat' will be possible only through the collective efforts and dedication of the nation's farmers, labourers, tribal communities, marginalised sections, intellectuals, youth and students, as well as the urban and rural populace.

Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also attended the public event held at Rourkela.

While the vision for Viksit Bharat by 2047 is ambitious, I hope the talk of inclusive growth translates to real, on-ground change in tribal areas. Often, schemes are announced but implementation is slow. Let's see tangible improvements in healthcare and education in Sundargarh.

As someone who has visited Odisha, the natural beauty and tribal culture she mentioned are indeed incredible. It's good that development is focusing on preserving this heritage while building infrastructure. The integrated command centre sounds like a smart city initiative.

"Extend a helping hand to assist others" – this is the essence of our society. Development isn't just about GDP, it's about community upliftment. Proud to see Odisha's progress being highlighted on a national stage. Jai Hind!

The focus on tribal communities is crucial. For too long, their contributions to our culture and sports have been overlooked. Recognizing Sundargarh as a land of brave individuals and sports enthusiasts is a respectful nod to their identity. More power to our tribal brothers and sisters.
