Patna, Aug 20

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday joined Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at a Grih Pravesh ceremony for 2.35 lakh houses completed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin during the 2026-27 financial year.

During the state-level programme held at Gyan Bhavan in Patna, house keys were handed over to beneficiaries, while sanction letters were distributed to newly selected beneficiaries.

Similar programmes were organised across all districts and connected to the main event in Patna through video conferencing.

Samrat Choudhary said Bihar has been allocated a target of 11,18,937 permanent houses under PMAY-G for 2026-27.

The Centre will provide approximately Rs 13,427 crore in assistance for the programme.

He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the support and said the initiative is helping poor families realize their dream of owning a permanent home.

"With Prime Minister Narendra Modi's resolve of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, the dream of poor families in Bihar owning their own pucca homes is continuously being realized," he said.

Samrat Choudhary said the housing programme is aimed at providing permanent homes to eligible rural families and strengthening basic living conditions across Bihar.

"Access to quality housing and essential amenities is key to ensuring a life of dignity for every citizen, and the NDA government is fulfilling it," Choudhary said.

At the local level, special programmes were held in different districts of Bihar, and a large number of beneficiaries were present.

One such event was organized at the Banjariya Block in the East Champaran district office auditorium, where beneficiaries watched the Patna event through a live video link.

Officials and public representatives were also present.

15 beneficiaries whose houses had been completed received their house keys and Grih Pravesh certificates.

Another five beneficiaries received approval letters after obtaining the first instalment, enabling them to proceed with construction.
