PM Modi's 12-Year Tenure: A Historic Milestone in Indian Politics

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed 4,399 days in office, surpassing Jawaharlal Nehru's record as the longest-serving elected head of government. Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and L. Murugan praised his leadership, citing historic achievements like Operation Sindoor and Article 370 abrogation. Joshi noted that Modi's tenure reflects a shift from coalition instability to a strong, stable government under BJP-led NDA. Murugan highlighted ongoing efforts toward 'Viksit Bharat' with major infrastructure projects nationwide.

PM Modi's tenure reflects work done for country's welfare: Union Ministers

New Delhi, June 10

Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and L. Murugan, on Wednesday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's record for longest and continuously serving head of an elected Indian government, saying his "tenure is not only historic" but also reflects the work done for the people.

Speaking to IANS, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said: "Prime Minister Modi has completed 4,399 days, breaking the record of late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. That is indeed a record, because a person from a very ordinary and poor family becoming the Prime Minister and leading the country for such a long time is historic."

He added that PM Modi has not just completed a historic tenure, but has bought a "change" into the country.

"Earlier people used to think that the country cannot function without the Congress. But earlier, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee led the country through a coalition government and now PM Modi has completed 12 years surpassing late PM Nehru's record," he said.

He added that PM Modi has proved that the BJP-led NDA can provide a "stable and able" government that has given a direction to the country.

Union Minister Joshi gave few examples of the Centre's achievements under PM Modi's leadership, saying India carried out Operation Sindoor, achieved "six times growth in electronic manufacturing", growth in exports and also abrogated Article 370.

"Significant developments in the railway sector have also been brought during PM Modi's regime," he said.

Union Minister of State L. Murugan called it a "historic day in Indian politics and Indian democracy".

"Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed 12 years of continuous governance. He is always working towards the nation's welfare. He has a vision of 'Viksit Bharat' towards which PM Modi, and the entire government, is working tirelessly," he told reporters.

He emphasised on India's infrastructural development, saying "Significant work has been carried out regarding bullet trains, railway facility, highways and airports during PM Modi's tenure."

"Today, throughout the nation, people are praying for PM Modi's good health and long life," Murugan added.

The 'change' Minister Joshi mentioned is real - earlier we saw coalition governments every few years, now we have stability. But I feel Article 370 abrogation was a double-edged sword; while it integrated J&K, it also created some unrest. Still, proud moment for Indian democracy irrespective of party lines.

I've been following Indian politics for a while. It's fascinating how Modi has shaped the narrative - from 'Achhe Din' to 'Viksit Bharat'. The Operation Sindoor and electronic manufacturing growth are solid achievements. But I wonder if the opposition could provide better checks and balances in a long tenure like this.

Personally, I've seen some benefits - the Ayushman Bharat scheme helped my parents, and the Jan Dhan accounts in our village increased financial inclusion. But many farmers in my family say the agricultural reforms didn't benefit them much. Complex picture overall, but one can't ignore the global recognition India got under his leadership. 🇮🇳

The fact that a chai-wala became PM and served a record term is a powerful democratic story. But I remember the 'Modi Wave' of 2014 and many promises about jobs and black money. Some progress, but the gap between expectations and reality remains for many middle-class families like mine.

I appreciate the infrastructure boost - those new railway stations and Vande Bharat trains are a big improvement. But I wish the government also focused on healthcare and education with same passion. Hope the next term brings more balance between development and social welfare. 🤞
