New Delhi, May 10

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the foundation stone, inaugurated and dedicated to the nation multiple development projects worth around Rs 9,400 crore for Telangana aimed at creating large scale employment and better connectivity in the state.

Addressing the gathering via video conferencing, the Prime Minister highlighted Hyderabad's transformational significance as a centre of both national and global importance and outlined how multiple large-scale projects launched today would establish Telangana as a major manufacturing hub.

Emphasising India's progress on the Reforms Express while building modern infrastructure across sectors, the Prime Minister identified the Zaheerabad Industrial Area as a cornerstone of this transformation, representing the Government of India's national mission to develop industrial corridors.

The Prime Minister observed that thousands of crores of rupees from the Union Government will fund these facilities, creating employment pathways for thousands of young citizens in Telangana and Hyderabad. Highlighting the multiplier effect, PM Modi emphasised, "vehicles, machinery manufactured here, and food processing industries established in the zone will empower Telangana's workers and farmers alike".

He underscored how the PM MITRA Park in Warangal will catalyse a national textile revolution while providing participating units with comprehensive benefits from Union Government schemes including the PLI scheme.

"This textile park will create employment for a large number of people, especially for our sisters and daughters," he remarked.

Detailing the Government of India's unprecedented 12-year investment trajectory in modern connectivity infrastructure across roads, railways, and airports, the Prime Minister noted that nearly Rs 1.75 lakh crore has been allocated to National Highways development alone. He observed that Telangana has realised substantial benefits from this national focus, with the state's National Highway network doubling over the past 12 years.

Comparing Telangana's transformed railway investment profile with its pre-2014 baseline, the Prime Minister noted a dramatic escalation: while undivided Andhra Pradesh's railway budget stood at less than one thousand crore rupees prior to 2014, Telangana's current annual railway allocation exceeds Rs 5,500 crore.

Observing that approximately Rs 50,000 crore railway projects are under concurrent implementation, he highlighted the introduction of five Vande Bharat and six Amrit Bharat trains serving Telangana.

Emphasising the criticality of energy security in the backdrop of the Iran war, where disruptions can halt all economic activity, the Prime Minister underscored that the Government of India is making unprecedented investments to strengthen national energy security. He referred to the inauguration of Indian Oil's new terminal in Malkapur as a significant strategic step. Detailing the project's importance for sustained regional development, PM Modi said: "This terminal will meet Telangana's growing energy needs and strengthen the supply chain."

Highlighting India's remarkable ascent to the top tier of global solar power producers in recent years, the Prime Minister noted unprecedented progress in ethanol blending within petrol while detailing the government's sequential energy diversification strategy.

He outlined how initial emphasis on universal LPG coverage has evolved toward promoting cheaper piped natural gas distribution and advancing CNG-based systems nationwide.

Acknowledging that such comprehensive initiatives enable India to navigate the current global energy crisis, the Prime Minister asserted the imperative of energy conservation, emphasising that imported energy products must be consumed judiciously in accordance with genuine necessity.

The PM MITRA Park in Warangal is a great move for Telangana's textile sector. Our sisters and daughters will get jobs right here without needing to migrate. Also, the railway allocation jumping from under ₹1,000 cr to ₹5,500 cr annually shows real commitment. But we need to see local employment numbers, not just crores.

Happy about the energy security focus—the Malkapur IOC terminal is strategic given the global oil situation. But I wish the article clarified how much of this Rs 9,400 cr is new money versus repackaged existing schemes. The Vande Bharat trains are nice but what about local commuter rail improvements in Hyderabad? 🚄

Finally some big announcements for our state! The National Highway network doubling is something we see on the ground—roads are better. But the PM should also visit Telangana more often, not just via video conference. Real development needs on-ground presence and engagement with local communities. Still, positive step overall.

The ethanol blending and solar power progress is impressive for India's climate goals. But I'm skeptical about how much will trickle down to villages in Telangana. The Zaheerabad industrial area needs proper water supply and electricity—basic infrastructure that's still patchy. Let's hope this package addresses those ground-level issues too. 🌞

Good announcements but elections are coming next year, so this timing is no coincidence. The ₹1.75 lakh crore for National Highways nationally is impressive, but Telangana only got a fraction. Still, the PM MITRA Park and
