DMK MP Kanimozhi expresses confidence in re-election, citing development, job creation, and welfare schemes under CM MK Stalin's leadership.

"People have confidence in our government, in the Chief Minister and what we've achieved - Kanimozhi"

Thoothukudi, April 1

Ahead of the upcoming assembly polls, DMK MP c on Wednesday expressed confidence in Chief Minister MK Stalin's leadership to secure another term.

"The DMK is definitely going to be elected back to governance, and because people have confidence in our government, in the Chief Minister and what we've achieved in the past five years," she told ANI.

The DMK MP highlighted the government's achievements in development, job creation, and social welfare schemes, especially for women and students.

"People want the government to continue because the development, the growth, and the GDP are in an upward trend after the Chief Minister came to power in the past five years. Even in Thoothukudi, they've brought in so many industries, and young people have got employment opportunities because of the Chief Minister MK Stalin's government. So definitely people are very keen, and many schemes for women empowerment have been rolled out, and for students who are interested in going for higher education, the government has really reached out to them, supported them, stood by them," Kanimozhi said.

Earlier, Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin announced that Rs 8,000 coupons would be provided to people to enable the purchasing of household items such as televisions and refrigerators.

The Deputy CM said that laptops have already been provided to 10 lakh college students.

"Coupons worth Rs 8000 would be provided, enabling people to purchase essential household items such as TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines. While laptops were earlier distributed to school students, under the Dravidian model government, laptops have been provided to 10 lakh college students," Udhayanidhi said.

Tamil Nadu will go to the polls in a single phase on April 23, covering a total of 234 constituencies in the State. Counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.

Rs. 8000 coupons for TVs and fridges before elections? Feels like freebies politics is back. I want to know about long-term industrial policy and permanent jobs, not just pre-poll sops.

As a woman from TN, I've genuinely felt the impact of their schemes. The support for higher education and women-centric programs is not just talk, we can see it on the ground. All the best to the DMK government!

Interesting to see the focus on welfare and development. The claim about GDP growth needs to be scrutinized with actual data, but if employment in places like Thoothukudi has risen, that's a solid achievement.

Every party says this before elections. The real test is after they win. I hope the development continues and isn't just for show. We need sustainable growth, not just temporary schemes.

The Dravidian model has its merits, especially in social justice. But I wish the article had more details on the job creation numbers. "Many industries" is vague. Voters need concrete facts.
