Washington DC, June 2

The second season of the romantic epic prequel series 'Outlander: Blood of My Blood' is set to premiere on September 18. The makers have also released the first teaser of the show.

The show is the prequel to the highly popular series 'Outlander', which ran for eight seasons.

Season 1 of the show introduced fans to both Claire and Jamie's parents and their love stories across different time periods.

The official description of Season 2 states, "After an unexpected journey back in time, left Henry (Jeremy Irvine) and Julia (Hermione Corfield) Beauchamp lost and separated in the sweeping highlands of 18th-century Scotland. Season One culminated with the two finally reuniting at the standing stones of Craigh na Dun, hoping to return to their own time and their young daughter, Claire. The first glimpse at Season Two picks up at that moment and reveals a distraught Julia alone with their baby. Separated from his love and hope, Henry must grapple with his mental health, as he fights to find his way back to her."

It added, "Meanwhile, the forbidden relationship between Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) seemed to conquer all odds, but their romantic escape was cut short as fiery crosses were lit and the 1715 Jacobite Rising began, thrusting the clans into war."

The streaming platform Starz, in collaboration with Sony Pictures TV, shared the teaser and premiere date on their Instagram handle.

In addition to Irvine, Corfield, Roy, and Slater, "Outlander: Blood of my Blood" stars Tony Curran as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, Seamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan.

According to Variety, Matthew B. Roberts serves as the showrunner for both "Outlander" and "Outlander: Blood of my Blood."

Roberts executive produces alongside Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Toni Graphia, Luke Schelhaas, Michael Wilson, Jim Kohlberg and Luke Parker Bowles.

'Outlander: Blood of my Blood' is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

The historical setting is fascinating. I wish more Indian streaming platforms picked up shows like this—we deserve better period dramas. Anyway, looking forward to September 18! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This teaser looks gorgeous! But I am a bit worried about the pacing—season 1 felt rushed at times. Hope they do justice to the intricate love stories. Also, that description of Henry's mental health struggle sounds powerful and relatable.

I haven't watched the original Outlander yet, but this prequel has me intrigued. Love stories mixed with history and time travel—what's not to like? Might binge both seasons over the weekend.

As someone who watches from the US, I'm glad they're releasing the teaser and premiere date together. The production quality looks top-notch. Also interesting that Sony Pictures TV is involved—they always deliver solid period dramas.

The casting is spot-on! Jeremy and Hermione have great chemistry. But I'm most excited for Jamie Roy as Brian Fraser—he's got that rugged charm. Hope the writing does justice to the emotional depth these characters need. Fingers crossed!
