"This new NDA team of Bihar is a confluence of energy and experience. - Rajnath Singh"

New Delhi, April 15

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday congratulated Samrat Choudhary on taking oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar.

He expressed confidence that the new NDA government in the state will fulfil public expectations and accelerate development under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a post on X, Singh wrote, "Heartiest congratulations to Shri Samrat Choudhary on taking oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar, and to Shri Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Shri Bijendra Prasad Yadav who took oath alongside him as Deputy Chief Ministers. This new NDA team of Bihar is a confluence of energy and experience."

"Under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi, this government will not only fulfill the expectations of the people of Bihar but also take the state's development to new heights. I extend my best wishes to this new team of Bihar for an extremely successful tenure," the post read.

Earlier in the day, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Samrat Choudhary took oath as Bihar Chief Minister.

Chaudhary arrived at the Governor's residence, Bihar Lok Bhavan, earlier in the morning to be sworn in as CM, succeeding Nitish Kumar, who had served as leader of the state for over a decade before deciding to go to the Rajya Sabha.

Bihar Governor Syed Ata Hasnain administered the oath of office to Samrat Choudhary at Lok Bhavan in Patna. He becomes the first Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chief Minister of Bihar following the resignation of Nitish Kumar.

The 57-year-old has big shoes to fill as he is set to succeed Nitish Kumar, who was sworn in as CM for a record 10th time in 2025 after the NDA registered a landmark victory in the assembly elections.

His elevation marks the end of an era dominated by Nitish Kumar's "Sushasan" (good governance) and the beginning of a new chapter for the NDA in Bihar.

Choudhary's rise to power is notable, given his humble beginnings in politics. He started his career in the 1990s with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and later joined the BJP in 2018.

Congratulations to the new CM and team. But let's be honest, the real test is on the ground. We've heard "development to new heights" before. Show us better roads, schools, and law & order in the next 6 months.

Interesting to see someone who started with RJD now leading BJP in Bihar. Politics makes for strange bedfellows! Hope his experience across parties helps in inclusive governance.

Watching from abroad. Stability is key for investment. If the new team can provide that and improve infrastructure, Bihar has immense potential. Wishing them the best.

Finally, a BJP CM in Bihar! This is historic. Under PM Modi's guidance and with a mix of experienced deputies, I'm hopeful for double-engine sarkar's full effect. Jai Bihar! 🙏

The article mentions "humble beginnings." I respect that. Hope he remembers his roots and works for the common aam aadmi, not just the political class. Focus on agriculture and women's safety, please.
