'New era begins in state': MP CM on Suvendu Adhikari sworn-in as 1st BJP CM of Bengal

Suvendu Adhikari sworn in as West Bengal's first BJP CM. PM Modi, Amit Shah attend ceremony. MP CM Mohan Yadav says new era of governance begins.

"Starting today, a new era of good governance, security and development has begun in the state - Mohan Yadav"

Kolkata/Bhopal, May 9 Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said on Saturday that a "new era" of good governance, security, and development has begun in West Bengal with Suvendu Adhikari taking oath as the state's first Bharatiya Janata Party Chief Minister.

"Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Suvendu Adhikari on taking oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Starting today, a new era of good governance, security and development has begun in the state," Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister told IANS after attending the swearing-in ceremony of Suvendu Adhikari as the new West Bengal Chief Minister in Kolkata.

Mohan Yadav, along with Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan -- another veteran party leader from Madhya Pradesh BJP, was present at the event.

Suvendu Adhikari, 57, was administered the oath of office by West Bengal Governor R.N. Ravi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President Nitin Nabin, several Union ministers, and Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states attended the ceremony.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Yadav said the people of West Bengal had voted for development, security, and public welfare.

He expressed confidence that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Suvendu Adhikari's leadership, West Bengal would achieve new milestones in investment, industry, governance, and welfare schemes.

Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Shukla met the newly sworn-in West Bengal Chief Minister and conveyed greetings on behalf of the people of Madhya Pradesh.

Rajendra Shukla said the election result reflected the people's faith in development, nationalism, and effective governance.

"Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, West Bengal will reach new heights of development and prosperity," he added.

Madhya Pradesh BJP President Hemant Khandelwal called the party's victory a tribute to BJP workers who struggled for years in West Bengal.

"The soil of Bengal bears witness that democracy here has often come at the cost of sacrifice. This victory belongs to all BJP workers who fought despite challenges and never gave up," Khandelwal said.

With Suvendu Adhikari assuming office as the new Chief Minister, the BJP has formed its first-ever government in West Bengal, ending 15-year rule of the Trinamool Congress.

Honestly, I'm skeptical. One party ruled for 15 years, now another takes over - will anything really change for the common man? The language of "development, security, public welfare" sounds nice but let's wait and see. Hope I'm wrong and Bengal finally gets the governance it deserves.

Historic moment! Finally Bengal gets a government that prioritizes development over dynasty politics. MP CM Yadav's words about "new era" resonate with me. I've seen what Modi and Shah did for UP and Gujarat - Bengal can be next. Suvendu Adhikari's defection was controversial but democracy is about choices. Jai Hind! 🇮🇳

As a Bengali living outside Bengal, this brings hope. But I worry about the communal harmony that Bengal is famous for - hope BJP doesn't polarize further. Also, Suvendu Adhikari needs to prove he's not just a "trophy" for BJP. Time for action, not just photo ops with Modi ji.

Fascinating political shift. From an outsider's perspective, this seems like a major realignment in Indian politics. The MP CM's comments about "new era" sound optimistic but let's see if the BJP delivers on infrastructure and investment promises. Bengal has massive potential in manufacturing and IT - hope it's realized.

I'm cautiously optimistic. The mention of "sacrifice" by MP BJP president is important - many workers suffered under TMC's strong-arm tactics. But governance is different from opposition. Suvendu da needs to focus on real issues like farmers in Sundarbans
