He expressed displeasure over the lack of seriousness shown by some districts and directed officers to complete all assigned tasks within stipulated timelines while strictly following the Election Commission's instructions.

The warning came during a training programme for Returning Officers held through video conferencing on Monday. Presided over by Singh, the session was conducted at the State Election Commission's conference hall at the Government Secretariat, with officials from all districts participating.

Singh interacted with officials across the state to review preparations and progress of work related to the elections. He assessed district‑wise readiness, discussed challenges faced by officers, and issued directions.

The Commissioner reviewed the status of voter‑list revision and updating, arrangements for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) at polling stations, and preparations for sensitive and critical polling stations. He instructed officials to ensure inclusion of all eligible voters in electoral rolls and provide adequate facilities for PwDs and others requiring assistance.

Singh reiterated his displeasure over the lack of seriousness in some districts and made it clear that laxity in election duties would not be tolerated.

Returning Officers were briefed on various stages of the election process, including nominations, polling and counting of votes, along with their specific responsibilities. Officials' queries were addressed and guidance provided.

The Commissioner emphasised the need for close coordination and utmost seriousness among all officials to ensure free, fair, transparent, peaceful and smooth elections. He directed regular monitoring of election‑related work and timely resolution of issues.

State Election Commission Secretary Rajesh Verma and other officials were present at the venue.
