MP: Tiranga Yatra on Bhopal's Upper Lake marks I-Day fervour
Bhopal, Aug 13
Bhopal's Upper Lake turned into a sea of tricolour on Thursday as a boat 'Tiranga Yatra' was organised at the city's Boat Club ahead of Independence Day, with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav joining the celebrations and calling upon people to strengthen their commitment towards the nation.
The event saw the national flag displayed prominently across the lake, while patriotic songs, including Mera Rang De Basanti Chola, added to the festive atmosphere. Young kayakers and canoeists performed a canoe slalom show carrying the Tricolour, drawing attention from people gathered at the Boat Club. A floating Tiranga created in the middle of the lake was another major attraction.
Chief Minister Yadav, along with cabinet minister Vishwas Sarang, inaugurated the boat rally and also participated in the yatra by boarding a boat. Addressing the gathering, he said the event reflected the country's growing confidence and the spirit of patriotism associated with Independence Day.
"Today, an extraordinary event is being organised at the Boat Club. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, democracy is flourishing, and India has established a distinct identity before the world," Yadav said.
He added that India, with its young population and growing capabilities, was moving towards prosperity and had demonstrated its strength and potential before the world. Referring to the proposed implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Madhya Pradesh, Yadav said the move would strengthen the principle of equality in the state.
He stated that people belonging to different religions would be governed by a common legal framework, describing it as a step towards equality in the state's social and legal framework.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the performance of young players during the boat rally, linking their sporting skills with the importance of determination in life.
"The Tiranga Yatra on water today is extraordinary. Our players have put up an unprecedented performance with the national flag. It shows that determination moves with time and that one can overcome challenges through resolve and skill," he said.
Calling upon citizens to work together for the country's progress, Yadav expressed hope that India would continue to become stronger and more capable.
The boat rally formed part of the Independence Day celebrations in Madhya Pradesh and offered a visual display of patriotism, with the Tricolour dominating the lake and its surroundings.

As an NRI watching Indian celebrations from abroad, events like this make me feel so connected to my roots. The Tiranga Yatra looks spectacular and it's heartwarming to see patriotism alive among the youth. Wishing all Indians a very Happy Independence Day!
The canoe slalom performance with the Tricolour sounds amazing! But I wonder - why are we mixing political statements like UCC into a celebration of Independence Day? Let's keep patriotic events focused on unity and the spirit of freedom, not political agendas. The yatra itself was a great idea though.
The floating Tiranga in the middle of the lake must have been a breathtaking sight! Bhopal is really setting a high standard for Independence Day celebrations. This kind of creative patriotism should inspire other cities too. Jai Hind! 🇮🇳
Our youth are the real strength of this nation! Seeing them perform with such skill and patriotism fills my heart with pride. The boat yatra on Upper Lake is a classic Bhopal touch - we have the most beautiful lakes and now the most beautiful celebrations too. Happy Independence Day to all! 🙏
It's wonderful that MP is focusing on national pride. The lake event looks impressive. But honestly, I feel we should also use these occasions to reflect on challenges like pollution in our water bodies and the importance of cleanliness. Let patriotism extend to caring for our environment too. Still, great effort by the organisers!
