Bhopal, July 2

Madhya Pradesh on Thursday launched the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission, with the state-level programme held in Jabalpur and similar events organised across all districts.

Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel attended the state-level launch in Jabalpur. Rajya Sabha MP Sumitra Valmiki, public representatives and senior officials were also present.

Addressing the gathering, Patel said the mission will help strengthen employment and livelihood opportunities in rural areas while ensuring transparency in implementation.

"The mission is a unique blend of technology and transparency, which will strengthen good governance and encourage public participation in nation-building," Patel said.

He said both the Central and Madhya Pradesh governments are working to realise the vision of a developed India by creating more employment opportunities and promoting self-reliance in villages.

"The mission will generate employment, improve livelihoods and create sustainable community assets in rural areas," Patel added.

District administrations organised launch programmes, public meetings and awareness campaigns across the state.

Ministers, MPs, MLAs and other public representatives participated in the events and explained the objectives and benefits of the scheme. A live telecast of the national launch programme was also arranged in the districts.

Panchayat representatives, self-help group members, workers, beneficiaries and rural youth attended the programmes.

Officials informed participants about the key features of the mission, including a 125-day employment guarantee, digital implementation, transparent payment systems, technology-based monitoring and village-level planning. Exhibitions and information stalls were also set up at several places.

The state government said the mission aims to create more employment opportunities, strengthen livelihoods and develop durable community assets in rural areas through effective implementation.

The mission was launched nationally by Union Rural Development and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at Mukkavaripalli village in Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati district.

Chouhan said the initiative would provide greater financial support, employment opportunities and infrastructure development to even the most backward gram panchayats.

Finally some focus on rural employment! In my village near Indore, many youth are migrating to cities for work. If this mission creates sustainable assets like check dams and farm ponds, it could actually help people stay back and earn. Let's see if the transparency part works.

Good initiative, but I'm skeptical about 'village-level planning' being truly participatory. Often, gram panchayats are controlled by local elites. Unless there's real accountability to the community, this will remain another top-down scheme.

Viksit Bharat mission launched in MP – sounds good on paper! But I want to see how many self-help groups actually get linked to this. In our area, SHGs do amazing work but rarely get govt support. Hope this changes 🤞

Technology and transparency are buzzwords, but in rural MP where internet connectivity is poor, digital implementation will be a challenge. They need to ensure field staff are trained properly and have basic infrastructure. Otherwise, it's just another jumla.

Impressive that Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched this nationally. He knows MP's rural issues well. The 125-day guarantee could be a game changer if linked to skill development, not just manual labour. Let's hope this creates real livelihood, not just temporary wages.
