MP govt to build six industrial corridors, strengthen Latin America trade ties

Indore, June 6

Over the next five years, the state will develop six major industrial corridors to enhance connectivity from Malwa to Bundelkhand and from Nimar to Vindhya, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced.

He described Madhya Pradesh as a land of immense opportunities, with stable and transparent policies, and as a rapidly emerging new global investment and export hub for India.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday invited trade representatives from Latin American and Caribbean nations to invest, manufacture, and innovate in Madhya Pradesh, promising robust infrastructure development and long-term partnerships.

Addressing the inaugural session of the India-Latin America and Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum-2026 in Indore, he highlighted the state's central location, stable law and order, skilled workforce, and investor-friendly environment as key advantages.

He further said the state is making significant strides in sectors including information technology, electronics, renewable energy, automobiles, pharmaceuticals, food processing, textiles, defence, and technology.

A ready-to-use land bank of over 1.25 lakh acres, extensive road networks exceeding five lakh kilometres, and advanced rail and air connectivity position it as a major logistics hub.

Yadav formally inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp and launching a dedicated digital platform and website for the forum via remote control.

He also released a special magazine titled The Business Tycoons, focusing on trade relations with these regions.

In the fiscal year 2025-26, Madhya Pradesh's exports to Latin American and Caribbean countries reached Rs 3,835 crore, marking a 19 pc increase from the previous year, with pharmaceuticals leading the surge.

Engineering goods, plastic products, agro-based items, and manufacturing have emerged as key export pillars, with growing trade ties to Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Peru, and Colombia.

The Chief Minister drew cultural parallels between India and Latin America, noting shared values, festival exuberance, music, familial bonds, and respect for nature, akin to the worship of Pachamama.

He recalled Indore's historical role as a commercial hub along ancient trade routes and praised the contributions of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar to the Malwa region.

Under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a Viksit Bharat by 2047, Madhya Pradesh is advancing from local to global, becoming an integral part of the global value chain.

The forum is expected to foster deeper economic partnerships across continents.

Latin America से cultural parallels draw करना बहुत smart move है. Both regions have similar vibes - festivals, family values, nature respect. 1.25 lakh acres land bank and 5 lakh km roads - yeh infrastructure develop ho raha hai toh investment aayegi. Lekin implementation speed bhi important hai. 🤞

Interesting move by MP government. The pharmaceutical export surge to Latin America is noteworthy. However, I hope the digital platform launched for the forum is user-friendly and actually connects businesses effectively. Having lived in Indore, I know its potential as a logistics hub. 🌎

Bahut badhiya initiative! 6 corridors Malwa se Bundelkhand tak connectivity badhayenge. Lekin ek concern - kya yeh projects par environment impact assessment kiya gaya hai? Vikas hona chahiye but sustainable development bhi equally important hai. CM Yadav ji ka vision for Viksit Bharat 2047 seems aligned, let's see how it shapes ground reality. 🌿
