Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday paid tributes to former Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani on his birth anniversary, describing him as an ideal legislator and Speaker whose life and work continue to inspire public representatives.

CM Yadav along with state assembly speaker Narendra Singh Tomar paid floral tributes before the potrait of Ishwardas Rohani in the state Legislative Assembly today.

Speaking to reporters on the occasion, the Chief Minister lauded Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar for initiating a tradition of commemorating the birth anniversaries of eminent personalities who made significant contributions as Assembly Speakers and Chief Ministers in the state.

"Our Assembly Speaker, Narendra Singh Tomar, has started a tradition to celebrate the birth anniversaries of distinguished personalities who have contributed immensely in different fields, especially former Assembly Speakers and Chief Ministers. In the same episode, we came here on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the late Ishwardas Rohani," the CM said.

Recalling Rohani's political journey, the Chief Minister said that he was first elected to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1993 and went on to win four consecutive elections from Jabalpur. He added that Rohani earned immense respect among the people of his constituency, particularly for his commitment to serving the poor and promoting development.

The CM further praised Rohani's conduct in the Assembly, saying he always spoke with honesty and clarity, irrespective of whether the issue concerned the ruling party or the opposition.

"Whether it was the ruling side or the opposition, he always spoke the truth in the right manner, without any hesitation, and remained dedicated to his work. He was an ideal Assembly Speaker. We will always remember him for his contributions and continue to draw inspiration from his work," the CM said.

Meanwhile, assembly speaker Narendra Singh Tomar also paid tributes to former Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani on his birth anniversary, saying it was his good fortune that he had an opportunity to work along with him in the state assembly as well as in the party.

"He was known as an outstanding legislator in the Assembly. His tenure as the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly was undoubtedly historic and exemplary. At the same time, as a party office-bearer, he always expressed his views with great conviction. He lived his entire life by the principle of 'Nation First, Party Second.' Once a decision was taken, Ishwardas Rohani followed it with unwavering commitment," Tomar said.

He added that every public representative and party worker should learn from the discipline that defined his life and strive to follow his example.

I admire how CM Yadav and Speaker Tomar are honoring the legacy of past leaders like Rohani. This tradition of celebrating birth anniversaries of former Speakers and CMs is a wonderful way to inspire current politicians to maintain dignity and discipline in the assembly. "Nation First, Party Second" is a principle we need more of in politics everywhere.

Rohani ji ko yaad karna acchi baat hai, par kya aaj bhi koi vidhayak unke jaisa hai? Aaj ki politics mein to "truth" aur "clarity" ki bahut kami hai. Speaker Tomar ne initiative liya hai—yeh appreciate karna chahiye, lekin ab is tradition ko aage bhi le jaana hoga, aur genuinely un logon ko sammaan dena jo real contribution kare.

Four-time MLA from Jabalpur—wow, that's serious dedication. Rohani ji clearly understood that being a Speaker means rising above party lines. I like that CM Yadav highlighted how he spoke honestly whether it was ruling or opposition. We need more such role models who show that democracy works when everyone respects the chair. Bharatiya sansad aur vidhan sabha mein yahi asli maryada honi chahiye.

Very nice gesture by CM Yadav and Speaker Tomar. But honestly, I hope this isn't just a photo-op session. If they truly want to honor Rohani ji's legacy, they should ensure that today's MLAs also maintain the same level of discipline and respect for parliamentary procedures. Bahut saare leaders ke naam pe toh bas naam ka vikas hota hai. Let's see if this motivates real change.
