MP CM Yadav to embark on day-long campaign in TN (Lead)
Bhopal, April 20
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will be on a one-day election tour of Tamil Nadu on April 21.
Chief Minister Yadav will campaign in support of his party candidates in the Rasipuram and Avinashi Assembly constituencies of Tamil Nadu.
Chief Minister Yadav will arrive in the Rasipuram Assembly constituency, Coimbatore, from Bhopal at 1:00 PM. He will hold a meeting in the Rasipuram Assembly constituency.
He will campaign in the Avinashi Assembly constituency in support of BJP candidate L Murugan during evening. He is scheduled to address a public rally in support of the BJP candidate SD Premkumar.
Rasipuram is considered an important seat where the BJP aims to make significant inroads in the southern state, a party press note said. Later in the day, at 2:00 PM, Chief Minister Yadav will hold a press conference at a Hotel in Avinashi, located in Coimbatore North district.
Following the interaction with media, he will campaign vigorously in the Avinashi Assembly constituency at 3:15 PM.
He will extend support to senior BJP leader and Union Minister L Murugan, who is contesting from the Avinashi (SC) seat. Murugan, a prominent face of the party in Tamil Nadu, is locked in a high-profile contest against DMK candidate V Gokilamani, a 28-year-old government doctor, making this constituency one of the keenly watched battles in the 2026 elections, the press note said.
The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister's visit is part of the BJP's broader strategy to strengthen its presence in Tamil Nadu.
The party has announced a list of 27 candidates for the Assembly polls and is relying on star campaigners, including chief ministers from BJP-ruled states, to galvanize support for the NDA alliance.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's energetic campaigning style, known for connecting with the masses on development and governance issues, is expected to enthuse party workers and voters in the two constituencies.

As someone from Chennai, I appreciate leaders from other states coming to campaign. But the real test is if they understand Tamil Nadu's unique political culture and Dravidian identity. Wishing him a productive visit!
Good strategy by BJP. Using CMs who have administrative experience to campaign adds weight. CM Yadav's work in MP on infrastructure could resonate if communicated well. The contest in Avinashi looks very interesting!
Respectfully, I have my doubts. Sending a leader who doesn't speak Tamil feels like an old playbook. The BJP needs strong local faces in TN, not just parachuted star campaigners. The focus should be on grassroots work year-round.
All this travel for a one-day tour? The carbon footprint of these political campaigns is huge. Wish they'd use more digital rallies. Anyway, hope the discussion is on development for TN. 👍
The fight in Avinashi is a classic one - experienced Union Minister vs. a young doctor. Voters have a clear choice. May the best candidate who truly serves the people win! Jai Hind.
