MP CM Yadav cuts short Delhi visit, reaches Rewa to take stock of flood situation

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav reached Rewa directly from New Delhi late Saturday night and reviewed the flood and waterlogging situation in Rewa and Satna districts, directing officials to ensure food, clothing and clean drinking water for people affected by the rains.
CM Yadav cancelled his pre-scheduled programme in Delhi and travelled to Rewa amid the deteriorating situation in Chitrakoot, where the water level of the Mandakini River has risen following continuous heavy rainfall.
From the Circuit House in Rewa, the Chief Minister held an emergency review meeting through video conference with the Collectors and other officials of Rewa and Satna districts.
"I cancelled my pre-scheduled programme and travelled directly from New Delhi to Rewa. In view of the situation arising from excessive rainfall and the rise in the water level of the Mandakini River in Chitrakoot, I held an emergency meeting with the concerned officials," CM Yadav said.
He directed the Satna Collector to ensure food, clothing and clean drinking water for all flood-affected people, pilgrims and residents stranded in Chitrakoot.
The Chief Minister also ordered a survey of the affected areas and payment of relief assistance under Revenue Book Circular (RBC) 6/4. He directed officials to ensure no loss of human or livestock life and asked them to deploy rescue equipment from districts less affected by rainfall in flood-hit areas.
The CM also instructed the NDRF and SDRF teams to remain alert and intensify rescue operations.
The Satna Collector informed CM Yadav that rescue operations had been carried out in six villages and seven people had been shifted to safe locations. The situation was expected to improve if there was no further rainfall during the night, the official said.
The Chief Minister was also informed that the Nayagaon dam had been damaged and that an assessment of the losses was underway. "Due to continuous heavy rainfall in Chitrakoot, the water level of the Mandakini River has risen. The district administration and SDRF teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations. Necessary arrangements, including food and medical facilities, have been made at shelter centres for the affected people," CM Yadav said.
He directed officials to ensure safe arrangements for pilgrims and residents in Chitrakoot and provide food packets to those stranded there. He also asked authorities to collect the contact numbers of pilgrims staying at Sadguru Ashram and facilitate communication with their families.
Officials said the largest number of stranded people were staying in Jaitwara village, where arrangements for food, water and clothing had been made.
CM Yadav also sought a status report on the Rewa-Satna and Satna-Chitrakoot roads. He is scheduled to visit flood-affected areas of Satna on Sunday.
