Moderate rain brings relief to Delhi-NCR; IMD forecasts more showers over next 3 days
New Delhi, July 22
Delhi-NCR woke up to moderate rainfall on Wednesday, bringing much-needed relief from the prevailing hot and humid weather conditions.
The fresh spell of showers provided respite from the discomfort that residents had been experiencing over the past several days.
The rainfall also led to a noticeable reduction in humidity levels across the region, making the weather significantly more pleasant compared to previous days.
According to the weather forecast, the maximum temperature in the national capital is expected to hover around 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to settle at approximately 25 degrees Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the national capital and adjoining areas are likely to receive more rainfall later in the day. The showers are expected to be accompanied by strong surface winds during the night. Similar weather conditions are likely to continue over the next three days.
The IMD also said that the southwest monsoon is set to witness a significant revival after remaining relatively inactive for an extended period. The renewed phase of monsoon activity is expected to commence over the northeastern region of the country before gradually advancing into eastern, central and northern India during the early part of the week.
Meteorologists have forecast widespread rainfall along with thunderstorms across several regions, while heavy showers are expected at isolated places as the monsoon regains momentum.
The upcoming spell of rain is also expected to bring considerable relief to the Gangetic plains and parts of Central India, which have been experiencing prolonged hot and humid weather over the past few weeks.
According to the IMD, this is likely to offer respite from the prevailing heat and discomfort.

As someone who commutes daily from Noida to Delhi, I welcome this rain! But yesterday's traffic was a nightmare because of the showers. I hope the authorities have better traffic management plans for the next 3 days. Fingers crossed!
Living in Gurgaon, I can say this rain is both a blessing and a curse. Good for the environment and temperature, but the roads here turn into swimming pools instantly. 🤦♂️ Seriously need better infrastructure.
Love the sound of rain on my window! 🎶 But I'm concerned about the power cuts that usually follow. Hope BSES and other companies have backup plans. Otherwise, it's a perfect lazy day!
