It's reported at 40 km depth, which is quite shallow. That can cause significant shaking. Guerrero is a seismic zone, right? Hope the early warning systems there worked properly.
The article is very brief. It just repeats the NCS post. Would have been helpful to know if there are any reports of casualties or damage, or if tsunamis were warned. Indian media should provide more context for international events.
Seeing this news while having chai. Nature's power is humbling. We must always be prepared, whether in Mexico or Mumbai. Stay safe, everyone.
6.4 is a strong quake. I remember the 2001 Bhuj earthquake was around 7.7. The devastation was... unimaginable. My prayers are with Mexico. Hope the infrastructure there held up.
