Meghwal chairs meeting of Hindi advisory panel of Parliamentary Affairs Ministry

Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal on Friday chaired a meeting to discuss strategies for promoting the use of Hindi in official work.
A total of 20 members, including the Minister and Members of Parliament, participated in the meeting of the Hindi Salahkar Samiti (Advisory Committee), said a statement.
Addressing the Samiti, the Minister of State invited the Committee members to present their views.
In addition to Manoj Tiwari, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Aparajita Sarangi, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), and Sangeeta Yadav, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), the meeting was attended by members who are not serving in the government.
These members included Advocate Pravirkumar Guharay, Ramkishore Sharma, Kamlesh Kishore, Prakash Kumar Patel, Anubhav Chak, Ramchandra Ramesh Arya, Praveen Shriram Deshmukh and Sunil Pandey.
During the meeting, deliberations were held regarding the action taken on the items of the minutes of the Samiti's previous meeting held on August 22, 2025, said a statement.
The members offered their suggestions concerning the promotion of the progressive use of Hindi, the Official Language, in the functioning of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
Representing the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Nikunj Bihari Dhal (Secretary), Satya Prakash (Additional Secretary), and other officials participated in the meeting, while the Assistant Director represented the Department of Official Language.
At the start, Secretary Dhal welcomed the Minister of State and all members of the Hindi Salahkar Samiti present, highlighting the efforts undertaken by the Ministry regarding the Official Language, Hindi.
Finally, Dr Satya Prakash, Additional Secretary, extended his vote of thanks to the Minister and the members, assuring them that appropriate action would be taken regarding the suggestions that were put forth during the meeting.

Finally, some concrete steps for Hindi! As a central government employee, I see the challenges in implementing official language policy in field offices. Hope the advisory committee's suggestions lead to practical solutions, not just paperwork. 🇮🇳
Hindi is our national language and should be promoted without forcing it on non-Hindi speaking states. The advisory committee should focus on making Hindi a language of communication, not dominance. Good that MPs from different regions are part of it.
This is good news but I wish they'd also focus on making Hindi more accessible - like simple official forms and help desks in Hindi for common people. Many government websites still prefer English. Steps must be practical!
While promoting Hindi is necessary, we must also ensure that constitutional provisions for other scheduled languages are respected. India's unity lies in its diversity. Hope this committee doesn't become another tool for language imposition.
As a Hindi speaker from north India, I appreciate these efforts. But we need honest evaluation - how many parliamentary bills and notices are actually available in Hindi? Let's start with making all essential documents bilingual first. Baby steps! 😊
