Manpreet Singh equals former Indian captain Dilip Tirkey's record of 412 international caps

Indian Men's Hockey Team midfielder Manpreet Singh equalled the Indian record of 412 international caps held by former India captain and Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey when he took the field in India's FIH Men's Pro League match against Netherlands in Rotterdam on Sunday, according to a press release.
Manpreet is also the only active player currently in the club of players with 400+ senior international caps.
Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey congratulated Manpreet on reaching the milestone of 412 international caps, calling it a remarkable achievement that reflects his dedication, consistency, and commitment. He wished Manpreet success in future matches and expressed gratitude for his continued contributions to Indian hockey.

Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh also praised Manpreet's career, calling his 412 international caps a reflection of his dedication and consistent performances at the highest level.

Great player, no doubt. But has his form in recent tournaments been as consistent? Sometimes he goes missing in big matches. Still, 412 caps is incredible, no argument there.
Watching Manpreet play since his junior days has been a privilege. He brings so much experience to a young team. Dilip Tirkey was a wall in defense, Manpreet is the engine in midfield—both legends in their own right! Well done, captain! 👏

Manpreet is a great servant of the game, but we also need to see how our other young midfielders step up. We can't rely on him forever. Good to see the likes of Hardik and Vivek Sagar coming through though.
For a country with barely any hockey infrastructure beyond Punjab and a few states, this is a monumental achievement. Manpreet deserves all the praise. Hockey India should do more to promote the sport across India, not just rely on these stalwarts.
