Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla has said that the state has a rich sporting legacy and its athletes have consistently brought laurels to the country through outstanding performances at national and international competitions.

Governor Bhalla also highlighted several national initiatives, including the Fit India Movement and Khelo India programme, as well as the contributions of the National Sports University and the North Eastern Council's High-Level Sports Task Force in strengthening the sporting ecosystem of the region.
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh said the District Olympic Games would foster the spirit of healthy competition among athletes while providing an important platform to identify and nurture emerging sporting talent.

Beautiful to see sports being promoted at such a micro level. The Northeast really has so much sporting talent, but often lacks infrastructure. At least now the state government is trying. But honestly, the real heroes are those coaches and parents who sacrifice everything. Respect to all athletes from Manipur! 🙏
Good initiative, but I hope they also focus on providing proper equipment, nutrition, and coaching facilities. Many talented kids from rural areas just don't get the exposure. The district Olympics is a step, but long-term support is needed. Let's not just celebrate the ceremony—follow up with real resources.

Or just a one-time event? We need systemic change, not just photo ops. The kids deserve a real pathway to national and international stages.
Manipur's sporting legacy is unmatched! From hockey to boxing to weightlifting, they've produced world-class athletes. This district-level initiative is a great way to build a pipeline. I just hope the political will continues beyond one event. Too many great schemes fizzle out after the
