A wave of excitement and pride has swept across Rajasthan following the selection of Rajasthan all-rounder Manav Suthar for the one-off Test against Afghanistan.

Welcoming the announcement made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India Senior Selection Committee, Mohit Jaswant Yadav, Convener of the Rajasthan Cricket Association Ad-hoc Committee, along with all members of the committee, congratulated Manav Suthar on his achievement and extended best wishes for a bright and successful international career.

Yadav stated that the selection has brought immense joy to the entire Rajasthan cricket fraternity and serves as a proud moment for the state.

Manav Suthar has become the first cricketer from Rajasthan to be selected for India's Test team in 12 years.

The first match of the India-Afghanistan Test series is scheduled to be played in Mullanpur starting June 6, 2026.

Prior to his selection, Rajasthan had produced only a handful of Test cricketers, including Salim Durani, who represented India from 1959-60 to 1972-73 and played 29 Tests, scoring 1,202 runs and claiming 75 wickets; Hanumant Singh, who played 14 Tests between 1963-64 and 1969-70, scoring 686 runs; Parthasarathy Sharma, who featured in five Tests from 1974-75 to 1976-77 and scored 187 runs; and Pankaj Singh, who played two Tests during 2014-15 and took two wickets.

Manav Suthar's domestic cricket record has been highly impressive across formats.

In 29 first-class matches, he has scored 945 runs and taken 129 wickets.

In List A cricket, he has played 25 matches, scoring 350 runs and taking 34 wickets, while in Twenty20 cricket, he has appeared in 29 matches, scoring 94 runs and claiming 25 wickets.

Good for Rajasthan cricket! But I hope the selection committee isn't just giving him a token cap. Let's see if he gets a game or just carries drinks. Salim Durani's record is huge for Rajasthan, hope Manav can match even a fraction of that.

First from Rajasthan in 12 years! That's such a proud moment for the state. His first-class record is solid - 129 wickets in 29 matches.. wow! Hope he makes his debut and performs well. Afghans are no pushovers but our spin attack should do well. 🌟

Honestly, I'm a bit skeptical. Afghanistan's spinners are world-class - Rashid, Mujeeb, Nabi. Manav Suthar is untested at this level. Hope he doesn't get overawed. But credit to RCA for developing talent from non-traditional centers. Jaipur se selection hona bada baat hai. Better than picking same old players from Mumbai or Delhi.

Interesting choice by the selectors. 129 wickets in 29 matches is decent but not extraordinary. Maybe they see something special in his bowling action or temperament. Will be watching the Mullanpur Test closely - curious to see how he handles the pressure of international cricket.

Manav Suthar ka spin bowling record acha hai par agar woh Test match khelega toh his batting will also be tested. He has 945 runs in first-class - that's decent for a bowling all-rounder. Afghanistan series is perfect opportunity to blood new talent before tougher tours. Proud for Rajasthan! 👏
