Jaipur, April 1

In a significant administrative overhaul, the Rajasthan government has transferred 65 IAS officers, including Collectors of 25 districts, signalling a major reshuffle across the state.

The Tuesday late-night move also brings key changes to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), with the replacement of the Chief Minister's Secretary and Special Secretaries.

Jaipur Collector Jitendra Soni has been appointed Secretary to the Chief Minister and Secretary of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR).

Sandesh Nayak, who was serving as Special Secretary to the Chief Minister, has been posted as the new Jaipur Collector. Among other key changes, Tina Dabi has been transferred from Barmer to Tonk as District Collector. Her sister, Ria Dabi, has also been reassigned in the reshuffle.

The reshuffle has led to a significant restructuring within the CMO.

Mukul Sharma, the Sikar Collector, has been brought into the Chief Minister's Office as Special Secretary. His transfer comes months after a public dispute with Forest Minister Sanjay Sharma during a 'Seva Shivir' in Sikar last December.

Utsav Kaushal and Amit Sharma have been appointed as Joint Secretaries to the Chief Minister.

In other significant postings, Arvind Kumar Poswal has been appointed Commissioner of the Housing Board, while K.L. Swami has been made Divisional Commissioner of Jodhpur. Nakate Shivprasad Madan, previously Excise Commissioner, has been transferred as Managing Director of the Renewable Energy Corporation, while Namit Mehta, former Udaipur Collector, has taken over as the new Excise Commissioner.

Additionally, Ria Dabi, who was earlier serving as CEO of the Udaipur Zila Parishad, has been appointed as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister. Rajat Yadav (SDM, Kishangarh) and Akshat Kumar Singh (SDM, Bhilwara) have also been appointed as OSDs.

Amita Sharma has been shifted from the Finance Department and will take up a similar role in the CMO.

The large-scale reshuffle is seen as an effort by the state government to streamline administration and strengthen governance across departments.

While administrative changes are necessary, I hope this isn't just musical chairs. The real test will be whether public service delivery improves in districts like Tonk and Jaipur. Wishing Tina Dabi and all the officers the best in their new roles.

Transferring 65 officers at once is a huge move. It disrupts continuity in many districts. I understand the need for change, but hope the government has a solid plan for handover. The common man suffers most during transition periods if projects get stalled.

As a resident of Jaipur, I welcome the new Collector. Hope Sandesh Nayak focuses on solving the city's traffic and waste management issues on priority. The previous collector did good work, hoping for even better now.

Interesting to see both Dabi sisters being reassigned in the same reshuffle. They are capable officers. Ria Dabi as OSD in CMO is a big responsibility. Hope these appointments are based purely on merit and performance.

The timing, late at night, is classic for such political-administrative moves. Hope the "streamlining" actually happens. The proof will be in fewer files stuck and faster approvals for public works. Fingers crossed!
