This is exactly why I'm always scared to walk in old lanes of Indian cities. One minute everything is fine, next minute a building can come down. Glad the fire brigade acted fast. But the civic body needs to audit all such structures in Pune - there are dozens like this in Kasba Peth, Budhwar Peth too. 🏚️

Building collapse in Pune - this is becoming too common in Maharashtra. Remember the ground plus four building that fell in Mumbai's Dongri last year? Same story - no injuries but residents had a narrow escape. The authorities should check if these are due to illegal renovations without proper structural engineering. Just saying. 😐

Major tragedy averted - yes, but we need to fix the root cause. Many buildings in old Pune are over 50-60 years old, built with lime mortar and weak foundations. Rain and monsoon season makes it worse. The government should give subsidies for structural audits and repairs. Also, please ensure no squatters or illegal occupants in such risky places. 🙏

I'm visiting India for work and staying in Pune. Hearing about this makes me nervous. Are buildings in old areas generally safe? I walked through Somwar Peth yesterday and saw some really dilapidated structures. Glad to hear the fire brigade has a good system here. Hope the local authorities are proactive about inspections.

Even though no one was hurt, this is a wake-up call for Pune Municipal Corporation. Have they even implemented the structural audit reports that were ordered after the 2018 building collapse in Kalyan
