The orange alert is useful but the 3-hour window is too short for people commuting to work. Many of us take local trains and buses from distant suburbs. At least BMC should have issued a yellow alert earlier for preparedness.

I work in Andheri and live in Navi Mumbai. The thunderstorms make the train journey quite risky. That said, the rain is beautiful and brings life to the city after the harsh heat. I just hope no one is caught in flooding. ☔

While the orange warning is for Mumbai, the heatwave in Vidarbha and East UP is more worrying. We are in a climate crisis - extreme rainfall in one region and extreme heat in another. Need better disaster management overall.

I'm in Bandra East, and this morning's thunderstorm was quite intense. Lightning was scary close. The drains here are clogged with garbage from roadside stalls - BMC should fine them heavily. Otherwise, the rain is welcome!

Respect to the IMD and BMC for the timely warning. But can we please have permanent solutions? The drainage system in Mumbai is from the British era - they need upgrading. We collect so much tax, where is it going?
