Lucknow Super Giants bowling coach Bharat Arun backs pacers Prince Yadav and Mohsin Khan to play for India, praising their IPL 2026 form.

"If you ask me a question, can they play for India? Yes, they have it in them to play. - Bharat Arun"

Chennai, May 9

Lucknow Super Giants bowling coach Bharat Arun backed pacers Prince Yadav and Mohsin Khan to play for India and lauded their form in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 season.

Both Prince and Mohsin have impressed for LSG in the IPL 2026. While Prince has been amongst the leading wicket-takers in the tournament with 16 wickets in 10 matches so far at an average of 18.69, Mohsin has claimed 10 wickets in five matches at an average of 14.90.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of LSG's clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday, Bharat Arun said that both Prince Yadav and Mohsin Khan have the potential to play for India. He added that the key challenge lies in how the national team management identifies and utilises such talent effectively to bring out their best. "If you ask me a question, can they [Prince Yadav and Mohsin Khan] play for India? Yes, they have it in them to play. It's how well they [India's team management] bring together the talent and getting the best out of it is a challenge for them," Arun said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

While Prince has consistently bagged wickets for LSG in this season, Mohsin's most notable performance came against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 26 when he registered figures of 5/23 in 4 overs.

Bharat Arun said one of the reasons he joined LSG was the quality of their fast-bowling unit. He highlighted the presence of promising bowlers such as Prince and Mohsin, along with strong performances from Mohammed Shami and the improving form of Mayank Yadav.

"See, one reason me joining Lucknow Super Giants is due to the fact they were really exciting bowlers. If you look at Prince, Mohsin [Khan], [Mohammed] Shami is doing well and even now Mayank Yadav bowled pretty well in the last game. Okay, he is a little short of match practice, I would say, but he is getting there. And also, we have a few other exciting prospects on hand," Bharat Arun said.

It’s a good sign that domestic talent is getting this kind of backing from a coach like Bharat Arun. But let’s be honest — Mohsin has only played 5 matches this season. We rush players into the national team based on IPL form and then drop them after two bad games. Give them a full domestic season first, let them develop variations. Otherwise we’ll just keep recycling the same cycle.

Finally some good news for Indian fast bowling! With Bumrah, Shami, Siraj and now these young guys coming through, we actually have a bench strength that other countries envy. Prince Yadav bowling at 145 clicks and taking wickets regularly — that’s exactly what we need for Test cricket abroad. Bharat Arun is the right man to groom them. 👏

I’m cautiously optimistic. Mohsin had a great season a couple of years ago and then got injured. Prince is new but looks promising. The real test is when they play on flat decks or against strong batting lineups in international cricket. Bharat Arun’s point about “how you bring together the talent” is spot on — the selectors and captain need a clear plan, not just a hype train.

Actually, the more I watch Prince Yadav bowl, the more I see shades of young Jasprit Bumrah — same slingy action, same ability to hit the deck hard. And Mohsin’s left-arm angle adds variety. The fact that Bharat Arun specifically joined LSG because of this bowling unit tells you something. India’s pace pool is getting scary good. 🇮🇳
