LS Speaker Birla calls Business Advisory Committee meet today
New Delhi, July 19
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has convened a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee at 5 p.m. on Saturday to schedule and manage the day-to-day legislative agenda for the Parliament's Monsoon Session.
The Monsoon Session will commence on July 20 and will continue until August 13. The four-week session will include 19 sittings.
An all-party meeting is currently underway at the Main Committee Room of Parliament House Annexe. The government will request collaboration from all political parties to guarantee the effective operation of both Houses of Parliament.
However, soon after the meeting commenced, the INDIA bloc MPs staged a walkout, protesting the presence of members of the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI), a rebel faction of the Trinamool Congress.
The divisions within the Trinamool Congress, the rift between the DMK and Congress and departures from the Uddhav Sena are likely to change the composition of Parliament.
The ruling NDA is anticipated to increase its numbers, while the Opposition INDIA bloc is poised to face a decrease.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will make decisions regarding the merger of 20 rebel Trinamool MPs with the lesser-known NCPI. He will also determine the merger of six Uddhav Sena MPs with Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena.
Meanwhile, following Congress' alliance with the TVK in Tamil Nadu, the DMK has sent a letter to the Speaker requesting new seating arrangements for its MPs, separate from the Congress.
Additionally, the 131st Constitution Amendment Bill concerning women's reservation and delimitation, which was rejected in the previous session, is expected to be prioritised.
The government is also anticipated to introduce the 130th Constitution Amendment Bill, which aims to automatically remove chief ministers, ministers, and the Prime Minister from office if they are detained or under judicial custody for 30 consecutive days in cases involving serious crimes.
The One Nation, One Election Bill is also expected to be on the Centre's agenda.
The FCRA Bill, Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, and Anti-Doping Bill are expected to be presented.
Proposals to replace the ordinance that increases the number of Supreme Court judges, along with bills related to the Code on Wages Central Rules, Corporate Law, and Securities Market Code, may also be introduced.

The 130th Constitution Amendment Bill about removing ministers if they're in custody is actually a game-changer. But the real test is whether it's implemented fairly or selectively used. Also, why are we wasting time on women's reservation again when there are more pressing issues like prices of dal and vegetables? 🤔
Interesting how the DMK wants separate seating from Congress after the latter allied with TVK in Tamil Nadu. Coalition politics in India is like a daily soap in itself. But seriously, folks - the Anti-Doping Bill and FCRA Bill could have real impacts. I hope the discussions aren't just political drama and actually lead to good laws.
Honestly, the walkout over NCPI presence seems like an overreaction. The Opposition should stay and debate rather than walking away. That said, I'm most curious about the Supreme Court judges increase bill - we need more judges urgently given the backlog. The monsoon session needs to be about productivity, not political point-scoring.
Ek baat toh clear hai - the NDA will try to push its agenda while the INDIA bloc is weakened by internal fights. But the Common Man like me wants to know: will these bills help reduce corruption? The 130th amendment sounds good on paper but will anyone actually implement it effectively? 😤
The women's reservation bill has been pending for years! If it's finally being prioritised, that's great news. But I'm skeptical - parties keep promising things during elections and then conveniently forget them. Also, that One Nation One Election bill needs careful debate - it
