Earlier this year, Armenia facilitated the evacuation of Indian nationals in Iran as tensions erupted in West Asia in February.
On April 11, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that 312 Indian fishermen were safely evacuated from Iran to India through Armenia. He further thanked the government of Armenia for making it possible.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (EAM), the fishermen were brought back as part of India's continued efforts to ensure the safety of its nationals in the conflict-affected region.

This is more than just diplomacy—look at the evacuation of our fishermen from Iran via Armenia! That's real partnership. Jaishankar's gratitude to Armenia for helping bring 312 Indians home safely shows how human-centric foreign policy can be. Well done, MEA! 👍
I appreciate PM Modi's outreach, but let's not forget that we need to balance this with our relationship with Azerbaijan, which has strong ties with Pakistan. India must be careful not to get dragged into the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute. Defence cooperation is fine, but we should avoid being seen as taking sides.
As someone following India's foreign policy, this is a smart opening. Armenia is landlocked and looking for friends beyond Russia. India can supply defence systems, training, and even use it as a gateway to Central Asia. The military talks between our Army Chief and Armenian General Asryan show serious intent. 💪
It's heartwarming to see India's soft power at work—from evacuating fishermen to deepening cultural and defence ties. Armenia is one of the oldest Christian nations and has always been friendly to India. Pashinyan's win is a chance to build on this historic friendship. Jai Hind! 🇮🇳🇦🇲
I like how India is expanding its circle of friends beyond the usual suspects. Armenia might be small, but it's strategically located between Iran, Turkey, and Russia. Our defence deals with them (like the Pinaka rockets and anti-drone systems) are a win-win. Keep it up, Modi ji!
