Mumbai, June 29
Actress Prachi Singh, known for her role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, has opened up about the mental health challenges faced by actors in the television industry.
Speaking about the pressures of the profession, she emphasized the importance of patience, balance, and staying grounded to maintain emotional well-being while navigating demanding work environments. Prachi told IANS, "The job is very demanding, and how you look after your mental health and how you think about it is very important. You have to take a lot of care because here you need a lot of patience. And I feel that if you stay connected to your family, if you stay connected to your roots and you don't forget them, then you are mentally at peace. Be yourself."
"And it's very important to stay grounded in this industry, which is also a little difficult. But I would say people should stay grounded," she added.
Prachi further mentioned that for her emotional scenes are a little more difficult than performing other scenes. "This is how I prepare myself. You have to feel that whatever is happening is happening to you. I think that maybe this is happening to me, and if it happened to me, how would I react? So maybe when you start feeling that thing, then you are able to show it properly on screen."
Speaking about working alongside a cast of seasoned actors on the sets of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, she said, "The set of Saas 2 is super fun. At the same time, when you are working with such senior actors, you get to learn a lot."
Prachi also revealed how she landed the role in the Smriti Irani-led show. They said, 'Send the audition urgently. 'We need it.' They gave me the character brief, and I gave the audition. After 10 to 15 days, I got a call saying, 'You are shortlisted. 'Then I got selected for this role."
In "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2," Prachi Singh plays the role of Manjuri (Munni). The show premiered on 29 July 2025 on StarPlus and also streams on JioHotstar. It is a sequel and reboot of the popular series "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi." Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay reprise their roles as Tulsi and Mihir Virani.

Finally someone speaking the truth! Our TV actors work like machines - 12-14 hour shifts, no weekends, constant judgment about looks. But I wish she also talked about how the industry exploits newcomers. The pay is often peanuts for such demanding work.
Emotional scenes being harder - that's so true! As viewers we don't realize how much actors invest emotionally. But I appreciate Prachi's approach of connecting personally with the character. Yeh toh asli acting hai! 💪
I'm so excited for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2! Smriti Irani as Tulsi is iconic. But Prachi's point about staying grounded is important for all of us, not just actors. In today's social media world, we all need that reminder. 🌸
Honestly, it's refreshing to hear an actress talk about patience and balance instead of just 'follow your dreams' nonsense. The TV industry is notoriously toxic with nepotism and body shaming. I hope more actors speak up about the real challenges.
Prachi's journey from audition to selection is inspiring. 10-15 days of waiting must have been nerve-wracking! But she got the role because she stayed true to herself. That's a lesson for all of us - be patient and authentic. Jai Ho! 🙏
